Hi Ladies!
Do any of you experience heavy periods on account of having diabetes? Mine of
always been REALLY heavy (since my very first menstrual cycle) and it was
another 4 years until I was diagnosed with diabetes when I had my first
menstrual cycle! I was told that it could be caused by diabetes, but I could
also have a bleeding disorder (now that I think of it, it does take a long time
for my fingers to stop bleeding whenever I prick them).

I don't think there is any relation to the two.
Mine have been extremely heavy as well, since I
started at 9.5, I was a day after my 33rd bday
when dx'd, so don't think it had anything to do
with it.

heavy periods are caused normally from a hormonal
imbalance and/or tipped utteris(sp) (too early to spell)

though you might want to get your thyroid checked,
that too can cause heavy to no periods in some.

I don't, and I've never heard that this relates to diabetes. It can happen
with a thyroid problem though. I do have thyroid problems and my periods
will change depending on whether my thyroid is running high or low.

Interesting! I hadn't heard this. I have or at least had a tipped uterus.
I didn't know it until I was pregnant. One of the nurses told me that I had
one. She also said that it might go away after I gave birth. Haven't heard
anything about it since, but I've forgotten to ask.

Julie I dont think a tipped uterus goes away by itself, I was told that
someone had to untip it, Take your choice of who you want, no just
kidding, It is a minor surgery, but you did get pregnant and had a
child so it is not a problem for you.

that same year I had two surgeries for unlnar nerve, a toxic reaction to
lithium and a psych hospitalization for bipolar. It was NOT a fun year.
Things are going much better now. It's been almost a year since all the
stuff ended. I didn't think it would ever stop!

For men and women it is hell to get old. But it maybe
better than the alternatives.
Actually it give us a freedom to ignore the social
rules and it we let our selves relax. It can be a decent
time.

For example, I post in a very poor manner. But I
remember having to be so careful and almost in agony
if there might be a mistake. You have the time to
ease up now.

Make getting older work for you as much as possible.

One worthless bum told others I was getting senile
Probably true,. But his comments were caused by
me telling he was a worthless bum and get off his
pompous ass and be productive.

Guy.

Oh, are you an angel! What a nice compliment! That is the most recent
picture of me. Of course sweetheart caught me on a good day.

I quite smoking and drinking a few years ago. I also eat super healthy now
and I think the combo has not 10 years off my looks. I see pictures of me
in the mid 90's and I look older in those than I do now.
