- Use for diet coke botles
- Posted by Guy
Loretta's post on the one flush situation brings
up a subject. I live near the Gulf Coast. My
water system is an electric pump.
I have the aspartame solution. I save my diet coke
bottles and store water in a number of them.
They store easily and provide some relief when "things
happen". No water can be a pain and more.

I keep a few frozen in the freezer. A full freezer is more
efficient than an empty one. I also keep a few cooling in the
fridge. Although a water emergency would be very rare here,
they are available just in case. When I go fishing,
I take a couple of frozen ones in my portable cooler in
place of ice, and a couple of refrigerated ones for drinking.
The remaining empties go to my neighbour who returns them
to the bottle depot and gives the proceeds to charity.
I was drinking quite a bit of diet Coke for a while, but have
recently reverted back to water. We are lucky here in
Calgary -- we have some of the best water in the world,
fresh from the taps!

Am I the only one who initially saw a different path Guy was going to
follow with the use of the coke bottles and the " flush" problem (regarding
the blackout)???
I was allready to jump on him as to the liklihood of
a women hitting the opening of a coke bottle especially in the dark!!!!!!
Sometimes men just have it too good

Guy forget the vessel used, I image any kind of large soda bottle will
do, But how long would that water live in a bottle that is not vacuumed
sealed or whatever, I did got out and bought about ten quarts of water
and put them in a cfoset, Lots of Batteries, a corded phone tomorrow,
and a portable radio will be bougtht too, and of course a battery
operated fan, I wont be found short again.

Who knows? Whatever, since I began low carbing I sure drink a
lot of water. It's funny, but one of the symptoms of diabetes was
the need for frequent urination, and a byproduct of the low carb diet
is lots of water and frequent urination!! You just can't win! I
spend my life running from bathroom to bathroom, or when I'm fishing,
to the nearest tree!

need "drinkable" water in that case

I don't want to know what Mem is thinking! This comes hot on the heels
of my 12 yr old son asking me what a douche bag was!! I haven't
answered him yet, perhaps Mem would be up to the challenge ...

No, because the bottled water is usually right by your side
I
drink litres more water now I have given up tap water. Hardly ever
drink because I am thirsty.

We had some experience and the toilet issue is a big
one. However we store water for other uses too. We do
use sanitary techniques and additives to make it suitable for
drinking. A sealed coke plastic bottle seems to be a proper way.
A bad hurricane can wreck the power system for a week.
Many of us keep a emergency power units to cover well
pumps and refrigerators.
I worked in a facility that was a cold war emergency storage area.
They stored large amount of water and chemical to treat water.
Drinking water is a big issue if you have been without it.

I keep a supply of water in bleach bottles in a cubbord. When they are empty
of bleach, there is enough residual bleach to keep water safe for months and
months.
Also use a marker to date them and weed out the oldest every so often.
Nan, Type 2 in LA where we don't have hurricanes but almost anything else
(except blizzards) can happen.
