Hi Folks:
I continue to lurk in between work, and though I am not the most frequent of
contributors, I do appreciate this forum and all the good it offers.
To all - may you and yours have a fabulous holiday season and a prosperous
successful 2004!
I just posted the following numbers at my quarterly checkup with my the
assistant captain of the Redman Diabetes Treatment team. (That would be my
doctor).
HBA1C - 5.8% (up from 5.4%)
Glucose at appt: 84 (meter read 102 - Need to check out meter or lab, not
sure which)
Cholesterol: 218 (not good news, was well under 200 on previous readings)
HDL 46
LDL 94
Trig: 389 (I"m told this is way too high)
microalbumin: normal
I am underwhelmed, but pleased it wasn't worse than this. I thought for sure
I'd be out of the 5% club. I have the following plans to improve:
1.Got prescription to revisit the dietician-led classes that got me started
off on the right foot
2. Need to get the exercise back on schedule - seasons ended for the folk
dance groups in mid-November and I haven't really done anything since
3. Go back to testing no fewer than the number of meals I consume in a day,
and be as diligent getting a bed time reading as rising reading.
One thing I don't know anything about (yet) is managing the Triglycerides. I
understand that a balanced diet ought to get that number down (what's a good
number for Trigs?).
