Well....my cardiologist appt was rescheduled for next week..this was
done 2 weeks ago....they wanted to do more tests before any surgery on
the valves.
This past Tuesday I woke up with bad chest pain, nausea, dizziness,
short of breath, sweaty. Ignored it..stupid thing to do, but I did. Went
to work. (I work in an after hours cae facility). My coworkers took one
look at me and the next thing I knew, I was getting an EKG, oxygen,
aspirin, nitroglycerin and an ambulance ride to the nearest hospital
emergency room.
From there I was transferrd to cardiac unit of Cleveland Clinic. Had a
heart cath done...had angioplasty with a stent put into a major artery.
Blood pressure has come down, blood glucoses are way down...like in 60s
and 70s.
Bottom line..no valve replacement like I was originally told I'd be
having. Left ventricle of heart is only functioning at 35%. Need to lose
another 90 pounds, get more exercise, keep BP and BG down..as if I
didn't already know this..I have not had a cigarette in a week now. When
I got home from the clinic and walked into my house the smell of smoke
made me throw up!!! Still short of breath with too much exertion. Get to
stay home another week.
Is it worth it? NO!!!!
I should've listened to the doctors, nurses, dieticians, all of you,
etc. etc.
Oh well....live and learn.
and I have learned alot this past week!!
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away."
