: Phew!! I have been feeling that way for ages now! He does absolutely
nothing

wow those seem like high amounts, to me at least for a t1.
have you looked into DAFNE? where you match your insulin intake
to the food you eat?
: > what type of insulin do you normally take?
: Actrapid morning, noon and evening, and Protophane at night
I had to look up Protophane, it's the same as our NPH, which by
all standards is a very old way of doing things. Do you have Lantus
or Ultratard available to you? That is more the modern insulins.
Though you seem to be doing fine on the others. How is your daily
average? I'm talking highs/lows..
: > what's your carb/insulin ratio?
: Mmm, not sure, but I take 60 grams of carbs per meal (eg: 3x per day)
heh though ymmv, for a t1 you shouldn't have to take more then about
10-12u of Actrapid to cover 60gm, i'd think. Perhaps OldAl can shed
some light here for us.

for the amount of insulin you are taking, I'd say you had some residual
buildup
left over. i've heard that can happen. they talk about that frequently on
the IP
list, when you go from injections to pumping.
