- Science???

When I left regular employment I interviewed for a
position with a firm. This fellow said he had a method
of sending a one foot wide laser beam to the moon .
He allegedly had a Phd but had no knowledge o of optics.
He did not know what diffraction meant.
He was developing a method to purify contaminated
water. He had no concept of the binding energies that
were involved.
He was a great bull artist and was building a plant funded
by a local banker and a physician and others. The
buildings are in a present state of falling down.
It is easy to talk and hard to produce science. Just
because a person has a leadership personality
is not enough for me to accept them as a diabetic
expert.
About I have seen them do here is to provoke arguments.
Inane arguments with no science. "It is true. because I
say it is true". I have a few problems because of that
type.. They do not pay my bills.
A good training in science requires from four to ten years
to get a start. At least I know I am not qualified.

I agree fully that the formal education is not the whole
picture. I know of many worthless people with a
lot of "education" But you cannot do advanced math without
the training. A few buzz words in biochemistry does not make
a person an expert in biochemistry. I used to love to read
Scientific American but it was not a source of info to work
in the field it covered. There are many factors involved but
an open mind seems to be very important.
I learned a lot from an old farmer when I was young. I
think he finished the fifth grade. Watch what a person
posts here to see what value they are to diabetics.
OT The death of a popular singer shows diabetes is
not a joke. You are not going to live forever. The
question is did you make yourself count in the opportunity
to be a human.
