Religious arguments
Posted by Guy

I have never seen a person change their mind
in a religious argument. But it can cause some
bad feeling toward the other parties. Live
and let live works in the present world.

Let argue over the various diets but that can get heated.

A diet argument is very close to a religious argument.
IMHO a lot of similarity.. BJ

Gee, I hope you don't think that Budd and I are arguing just because we
are engaged in a lively discussion about our views of God. I have been
engaged in such discussions since I was old enough to understand what
the word God was supposed to mean. The only time I get upset is when
someone tries to force their religion on me. Otherwise it isn't much
more than when they sat around and debated how many angels can set on
the head of pin.

Now I know that you wanted some kind of a comeback, Guy, or you wouldn't
have posted this to begin with.

Remember God loves you and so do I.

Guy scribbled these tid bits

I look at it this way Guy. God and the ever after is a mystery. No living
person can tell you by experience what is going to happen when you or I
die.

In the words of a songwriter:

" I choose to let the mystery be"

God will reveal it to me when he is ready.

It is an interesting proposition isn't it?

If people don't change their minds in a religious argument and they
aren't forced to change their religion, then how is one converted from
one religious belief system to another?

One would think it would be by attraction, wouldn't one?

People that I have seen turn to a new church usually did it because they
liked the others in the congregation rather than what the church
doctrine was.

Far too many people have been converted at the point of a sword over the
centuries.

Chuck, some religious arguments get way off the issue we need to
discuss here. I do enjoy a philosophical discussion when the
participants understand what you just said, I still try to use the
golden rule my self. Fail too much.

I don't wish to get into a discussion about this and frankly
I regret making the post, however - you deserve a response
and some sort of explanation.

IMHO those that have religion need it because they cannot
accept the alternative view. Yet. I find it curious that
over the many years to date, religion has in some sectors of
world society, become less important to an increasing number
of people irrespective of race or creed.

A child looks towards its parents and accepts with blind
faith everything the parent says or does unquestioningly. As
the child grows and becomes more aware of the world we live
in and begins to think for itself, then that blind faith and
unquestioning acceptance begins to diminish. And so it is
the human condition, we are after all still adolescent.
Already unable to accept blindly especially in the face of
what seems to be contrary evidence. Eventually, the majority
of the human race will follow this path. But until then
there will be an unevenness of growth towards that end.

That is my considered view FWIW

I'm glad I didn't start this thread. I have shared my religious thoughts
that ended in a heated discussion. I don't argue over religion because we
all have our own way of believing or disbelieving. But if you want my opion
of Christianity go for it. All you have to do is e-mail me. This
newsgroup is for suport of diabeties not religion.
FACT I am saved by the blood of the Lamb. sanctified by the Word of God and
filled with the Holy Spirit.
