The real problem
Posted by Guy

Initially the internet worked fairly well but that was when
a computer cost thousands.

We want an unregulated system so we could do
what we want. We forget that this gives all that right.
An equivalent item is to disband the police department.

If we did that your home would be emptied out very
quickly and your kid would be run down by some
driver running 120 mph.

So we bitch and moan, but we have generated a mess.
History has demonstrated the results over and over
but each generation must learn the lesson again.

Now if you miss some item that would help your
diabetes or some one that could help you does
not post in disgust. YOU are the loser.

Some of you with slight elevated blood sugars seem to
be having a ball. But your time will come. Been
there and it is hell. Long term diabetes is a mean
problem.

There are over 60,000 newsgroups some
dedicated to raising hell. These were not setup for
that purpose.

But we still are better off than those that lose
their understanding of reality and rave for attention.

The Internet works better every day. Doctors claim that their patients
have more understanding of their disease and are more up-to-date with
developments than they are due to their busy schedules.I have never been
so informed - about new development, quack schemes, latest research,
pracical problems and country-to-country differences.

Speed limits are you and me. Leaving trolls for what they are make them
lose their speed altogether. Off topic posters are corrected and
neglected. People violating netiquette are being directed to sites with
netiquette rules.

I guess over 125,000 is a better figure, but that aside.

In the mean time -looking only at the headers and content here- Usenet
(and Internet in general) is a golddiggers' paradise for people who want
opinions, information, and folks to share their practical problems and
sorrows with. Above that - it keeps us all sharp with regard to "our"
disease.
If _you_ cut down on top postings about what's wrong here you even raise
that success number.

All the best,

I have been around here a long time and I know that so many
with good reliable information have left because of the bull and
insults. Vague general posting does very little for diabetes. Instead
of support we see mostly some smart remarks that serve the posters
purpose. Today there is no net standards. So why try. It costs
nothing to give a good word to a real distressed person. Chopping
them up for fun is not support. Reminds me of a few dirt floor
bars I see here in Texas. The internet is over 50% pure crap now.

Reminds of the fate of the CB craze years ago. There will be a
communications system develop in time. Is this it? I doubt it.

So true.

Good, supportive posts have been declining at an alarming
rate, since the last few rounds of flame wars. This is a
loss for all diabetics.

But I know of one case where this fellow was an abuser.
He received two FCC warnings, then he was sentenced

I live on the Gulf Coast and these people have served and served.
They will be there when the normal communications are out

Now if people knew how to quote properly, we're closing in even more on our

Right. Keep on posting, and don't let anyone bother you, especially me.
