Welcome chapp,
I am also a Type 1 diagnosed in 1970. The quantum leaps I have seen have
been shared by many of us along the way...U-40, U-80, disposable syringes,
urine strips, U-100, home glucose meters, lancet devices, human insulin,
multiple injection/intensive insulin therapy, insulin pump, detachable
infusion sets, Humalog...
All of these things have been significant improvements in my trials with
this disease.
I also share many of the complications mentioned by yourself and others.
It's helpful to hear other voices out there to remind me I'm not the only
one.
Lurking until I have something to add,
Ross

Sorry I think I've been replying to everyone's post through your post,
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing (my BG seems fine!). Can I ask a few
questions?...
Are you happy with the switch to the pump in '95? Is there anything in
peticular that made you change? I guess we were diagnosed the same year,
1970. You say that you share some of the same complications, sorry to
hear it. May I ask how you are dealing with any/some of them? If its
easier to email personally rather than through the post, I wouldn't
mind. Or if you would rather not say, I am fine with that too!
Take care and thanks for the reply,
~Chapp
