The debate about chromium continues. I know that some here are
adamantly opposed to it's use, and say so with passion. Others say
it did nothing for them. I personally decided to try it, (Chromium
picolinate, 400 mcg per day), and found it lowered my bg across the
board by about 1.0 mmol/L every day. It's effect on the average bg
levels was noticable within 48 hrs after commencing the
supplementation. On few occasions, when I didn't take it, my bg
crept up within a few days, again about roughly 1.0 mmo/L for all
readings generally.
My GP was very interested and involved, and found the effect rather
intriguing.
Combined with dietary changes, this effect continued until I reached
an A1c of under 6% when I discontinued it's use. I had also lost a
considerable amount of weight by this time, my triglycerides were
down to normal range, and insulin resistance was much lower than
previously. This took place over a period of about 6 mths, so I
doubt if it was a placebo affect. I'm no biochemist though.
Perhaps it's one of those YMMV things. Serious, large scale reseach
is needed to clarify the situation.
Actually, all *I* really cared about was that it helped me.

This was enough for me, I stopped reading when I got to this line:
Neurotransmitters are what get plaques and tangles in the brains of
Alzheimers patients, I sure as hell don't wanna lose any of them
because of Chromium Picolinate, which might not work anyway!

No, Ed, I am saying I don't want to lose any of these
neurotransmitters in my brain because if I get Alzheimer's it will
plaque and tangle the rest of them. My father died with AD and I don't
want to mess with any kind of transmitters in my brain because of it.
I may be over reacting, call me silly, but its how I feel.
