Charlie,
I was an practicing RN for 30 odd years, and it was usually one of
the pts, or their families that made my day. We didn't often get those
little rewards, but when they came along...it was a true treasure. I
still see some of my old pts, and they always remember about some (what
seemed to me....a small thing) that I had done for them or their loved
ones.
I have had wonderful people take care of me when I was very ill, and
not able to do it for myself. I must say that my Mom has always been at
my side...no matter what..she still is....Thank God!
Thanks for reminding me that I have a lot to be thankful for, and am
blessed in many ways! Mic

Always, be, and stay AWARE!

Mic, sometimes these instances are almost funny. My insulin reaction
when I was working happened in a meeting one morning about 0830
which was a little early. In this meeting when they passed me the sign in
sheet
I didn't know what to do with it so someone called EMS. While we were
waiting
a friend of mine named Charlie who I talked to a lot during the work day
said,
"get Charlie a cup of coffee but don't put any sugar in it as he has
diabetes."
While he meant well and I thought I had told him many times what hypoglemic
episodes
were and how to treat them, all he remembered was that I never ate any
sweets.
I meant to include this in the story. Lantus and humalog works a lot better
for
me now.
