Caffeine didn't do anything to my BG, but it DID cause many more
visits to the bathroom

Funny how we get led astray by things that seemed like a good idea.
Some years ago a diabetic friend of mine was worried about the
saturated fats in milk, so switched to a "coffee whitener". Imagine
her shock when she finally found out it was made from coconut oil,
and was actually a great deal higher in sat. fats than the little
bit of cream in the milk!

Now of course, thinking on just how bad sat. fats is being
reconsidered anyway. I eat less of it mainly because if I add the
olive oil, fish oils etc, I have to take something else out to
compensate, and besides, I want to improve my omega ratios and
cholesterol values.

As for milk generally, I have wondered if those who find it spikes
them have considered using the lactose free milk? I tried it, and
apart from a slightly "cooked" flavour, (it's UHT processed), it was
quite acceptable. It comes in whole milk or skimmed. Just a
thought. Milk and milk products are still the best source of
calcium found in natural foods.

I use "Lactaid" lactose free milk because I am lactose
intolerant. Lactaid contains the same amount of carbs as
regular milk. The only difference is that it is treated with
an enzyme that converts the lactose to 2 other sugars that
are easily digested. The sugar content remains the same.
