Posted on 10-21-2003 | 11 Comments

After reading the replies I got last night, I was really pissed off! I thought "Why the hell did I even bother asking!?!" After sleeping on it and thinking about it, I got a little nervous about taking the penicillin without a prescription. This morning I had a high fever and decided to just go into the emergency room. I am glad that I did, because I found out the antibiotic was the wrong kind for the pneumonia that I have. So, now I have the correct prescription and probably one huge...

question about shots and timing
Posted on 10-20-2003 | 4 Comments

I keep a regular schedule during the week and know when all my shots should be. I usually take three units of humalog before every meal. Today I slept in and had breakfast at 9:30, lunch at 3:30. I'd like to have dinner now 6:40. Now I've been told humalog leaves the body within three hours so I should be okay to have another shot and dinner now.

Do time activity profiles of insulin vary by individual?
Posted on 10-20-2003 | 12 Comments

I'm still trying to make a decision on whether to upgrade my MiniMed Paradigm 511 to the 512. One of the main features that the 512 has that the 511 doesn't is the Bolus Wizard feature. Part of the functionality of this feature depends on MiniMed's interpretation of the time activity profile of Humalog insulin. From what I've read here, it seems that there is a wide variation in the way that each individual responds to various insulin therapies. Is this true of the absorption of insulin? ...

And some of the ways that you are expressing your anger over my action: like calling me a troll, expressing the desire to cram things up my ass, well... they...
