No, but I know my son who had his tonsils out last December was
told by the surgeon to gargle with a hydrogen peroxide solution to
prevent post op infection.

Well, yeah; but the stuff people have in their medicine
cabinets is only a 1-2% solution. The Kursk's torpedoes
were fueled by 100% peroxide.

No info is useless; it's just that some is more useful
than others in general circumstances.

thanks chuck..

when I was little, i had to have my ears flushed every 6 months
they used peroxide.. odd

i know my mom told me to use it to wash my mouth out with
instead of listerine, she said it was more effective in killing bacteria.

good self whitening solution is .. baking soda and salt then rinse
with peroxide.

Not if you've a mind to make a blonde bomb :-)

Hydrogen peroxide is use as hair bleach too, but I suspect it's stonger than
ANYTHING you'd stick in your gob and gargle with, and I suspect the stuff
that blew up the Kursk was even stronger than that! :-)

I would not do it on an infected ear that might close while it is still in
there , bubbling , building pressure . Been there , done that when I was
little . It scared me ( though it luckly did no damage ) enough that I quit
using it for ears at all . It is an old-time "remedy" .

I figure, what the heck; it can't hurt to try it.

Chuck I am curious as to how the light treatment is working.

I started laser treatment and I look like a person who had cigarettes
put out all my arms. It is a horrible site, but I hope it works. It is
like getting small electric shocks. It is not a horror, but it isnt
that pleasant either. If it works, then those spots done will never
return. Here s hoping

Thanks for asking.

I am progressing very slowly with it. I took one today for four minutes,
thirty seconds. Put a hood over my head after 2:30. This evening I have a
slight burn on my face and shoulder blades, but that should be gone by
morning.

Since I have been using the wheatgrass spray and no longer have any thick
plaque areas I think the UVB is helping. As you know, it is a slow process.
If I can hold even through these months of short days I will be very happy.
Because at least two of my meds have the old "avoid prolonged exposure to
sunlight" warnings on them I have to be pretty careful.

When I was able to take them for the maximum time three days per week I
stayed nice and tan all winter long and most of my lesions cleared. Can't do
that anymore. It would be so nice to have smooth skin all over my body and
not be bothered by the inverse psoriasis around the groin. Oh well, there
are worse diseases than psoriasis to live with.

You are lucky to have the laser treatments available. The only place that I
know of that they are available near here is at the Dermatology Department
of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I have been told by my derm
that they are very expensive and that BC/BS would probably not cover the
cost.

I will be interested to hear your results after the places you have been
treated are healed.

Chuck, my derm told me that it wasnt covered either, but when I went in
for the treatment I was only asked for a co pay and I have had two
treatments so far. Apparently the people that deal wth the insurance
know better than the doctor did, No harm in checking it out. Also if
it is in the hospital setting, they may have a psoriasis clinic which
could do it at a minimum cost. I was going to the NYU psoriasis clinic
when I first came out of remission and with medicare I paid ten bucks,
At that time I was given metho.

How big is your box. Mine wasnt higher than my shoulder and it never
affected my face. Also mine never made me tan.

It is not a life and death disease, but it is not a walk in the park,
There are two percent of the population afflicted with it. That is a
lot more than I thought. They have found three genes that cause it,,yet
they wont be working on it, cause it is too expensive and besides the
treatmnt is big business.

Mine is about 6'6" I believe. It folds out and then closes around me so it
is an enclosed cabinet when in use. It has 8 lamps. I do have a slight burn
on my fact this a.m. I guess I stepped the time up just a bit too much
before putting the hood on. The pinkness is gone from my shoulder blades
this a.m. so I know that I can add another 15 seconds to my next treatment
tomorrow. For many months I could not tolerate more than two minutes per
treatment. I am hoping to get up to seven minutes or so before hitting my
"set number". The max time in this cabinet for any patient is 15 minutes,
but I doubt if I will be able to go that high.

There are a few hundred people every year that actually do die from
psoriasis. I think it is something like 800 or so. I assume that is world
wide, but don't know for sure.

I will be interested to know your progress using the laser.

Chuck you have a real cabinet. i have four bulbs and to do my whole
body used to take an hour, at l5 minutes a side. I felt like i was a
rotisserie chicken.

I will keep you apprised of progress.
