- OT Dr Watson--DNA
- Posted by Guy
One advantage of being old and handicapped is
you have the opportunity to set back and reflect.
This AM, PBS had a feature that was primarily
an interview with Dr. Watson. He was the
co discover of how DNA works. It covers many
issues we discuss. Is it possible to alter the
genetic factors that may dispose many to
develop diabetes?
I was most impressed by his final statement
on the program. If you have the chance,
it is worth watching.
Warning, while we are learning a lot, it is a long
road. Don't expect miracles next week.

scientific stuff. Maybe I should do some of that now.
Now that they are close to cloning humans, I wonder
who they will select for the future. I am sure I will not be
on the list. If you get a chance, look at the PBS show
on DNA. The comments by the co discoverer of DNA
makes you think.

Maybe they'll use "The Boys from Brazil" as a training film?

The people in control of the process will clone themselves.

I always felt sorry for the poor Doc for that.

Research in this area may be good but full of pitfalls.
No more sex. When I would be tested for intellect I
would not make the cut. Of course diabetes would
disqualify anyone.
Raises all kid of issues.

says...
The BBC had a discussion between a anti-cloning and pro-cloning
minister and scientist today about it. They didn't resolve the
argument, but they did agree that, if somebody decided to try
to clone Marilynn Monroe (using DNA extracted from her remains),
it would be at least 20 years before they had a new sex symbol
they could use.
You may be able to clone a human, but you can't make them age
any faster than nature allows.

never mind the 1930s - the prospect of cloning in the USA in 2004 is just as
frightening. Who ? Dubya, Arnie ? The mob bosses ? Half-backs ? And the
racial balance ?
They will have to clone drones as well to do all the work.
