In an effort to reduce my BG reading I started cutting carbs about
12/01/2003.
Back then and until recently, I made about 5 or 6 trips to the bathroom each
night to pee. Last night my sleep was interrupted to pee only once!
My BG readings are typically around 105 to 111 now. I used to commonly get
250. I once had a 315.
I've lost weight too.
Kaiser is still passing out the food pyramid chart for diabetics. Go
figure.
YMMV

Yes, you've discovered what so many of us have. When I had my first
meeting with my endocrinologist, I told him about how I was using low-carb
to control my BG, and he said that in 10 years that will be the standard
recommended core treatment for type 2 diabetes.

low carb diet one does not retain much water which causes dehydration in
some. The answer to that is drink lots of fluids...well...the more one
drinks the more one pees. Peeing is one of the body's ways to geet rid of
excess BG...lowering your BG is why you don't make as many trips to the
can...not the low carbs.
I never wake up in the middle of the night anymore...used to.

You were peeing so much because your BG was too high.
Me too. And I'm on the ADA diet.
It does work for some of us.

I have an enlarged prostate, which happens to 50% of men over the age of 60.
After the holidays my A1C was 6.8 but normally runs in the 6.0 range.
I have gastroparesis which doesn't help either.

As a t-1 daibetic I don't really want to go lower that.

contrlol. You are doing great.

Actually, low carbing will make you pee more than a regular diet. With a
low carb diet one does not retain much water which causes dehydration in
some. The answer to that is drink lots of fluids...well...the more one
drinks the more one pees. Peeing is one of the body's ways to geet rid of
excess BG...lowering your BG is why you don't make as many trips to the

I think one is a direct result of the other. If I use a low-carb approach
to lower my BG, then I will have to go to the bathroom less. (Certainly
true in my case). I am back to the more-or-less standard of twice or three
times a day. If my ever BG gets over about 200 and stays there for a while,
I'm sure the frequent (every two hours or so) trips to the bathroom will
resume. Personally, I prefer not to find out.
