These are the results of my tests
cholesterol 145
tris 150
bp 102/70
ldl 64
hdl 49
homocystein 7.5
aic 5.5 up from 4.9 but not complaining since I was away almost two
weeks on a cruise and vacation.

Very happy with these resuls, but will work harder to lower aic

Loretta,

I can see why you are happy with those results. Your cholesterol
profile is great, and an A1c of 5.5 is excellent. I don' t know how
you even got an A1c of 4.9 before!

You didn't show the lab range references, but according to the chart
I have, a trig reading of 150 is borderline, (the range is given as
100 to 150). Now that's an OK figure, but I'd reckon you should
keep your eye on that one - it is, as you know, a good indicator of
insulin resistance. Someone else posted that was an improvement on
your last test, so it is probably good news if that is the case.

You just seem to go from good to even better! It's been a long hard
battle but you are definitely winning the war!

Now about those fingernails.......... (Just kidding) LOL. You
are a wonderful example of what persistance and determination can
do. Don't change a thing other than the above health related stuff
as necessary. We love you as you are!

How long have you been a member of the group? Would you care to
post what your numbers were like when you first joined? It may be
inspirational for new members to see how far you've come. No
pressure, Loretta, just if you like.

Annette

Thanks Annette for the compliment.

As to my tris, the labs on trigylcerides is 150 or less. I was at 1800
when I was first diagnosed, I was diagnosed in November l999, I was
181 which is not a horror and my aic ws 7.5. In January of 2000 I found
asd and have been here since I couldnt get control, I was fluctuating
constantly. I tried to follow the advice I was given on the group, but
it didnt help I was seeing a gp and he had me only on prandin, which
did nothing fcr me. I weighed 243 pounds and was a mess.

I found an endo who put me on glyset, glucophage and 8 mgs of amaryl. I
went on a diet, lost forty three pounds and my numbers started to get
into better control. I watched my carbs and started testing seven times
a day, I still test at least six times a day even now, I found out
which foods I could eat by testing. As I lost weight and watched my
carbs my numbers went down and so did my a1c, My cholesterol got into
control, my entire lipid panel was good (lipitor and tricor). I feel
that I have never been healthier and that diabetes turned out to be a
blessing in disguise.

If I hadnt found this group and taken charge of my disease, who knows
what could have happened to me, cholesterol in the high 400s and tris
of l800. I owe my success to the endo, this group and most importantly,
me.

I dont know how I got the 4.9 last time, but I am not unhappy with the
5.5. My doctor said he wished all his diabetics were like me That was
a great feeling. I know that I am not going down from this disease
without a fat.

Staying with the group for the last four years, has brought me lots of
support, information and wonderful people to speak to every day.

For newbies, there is so much to be offered here, I hope you stay and
take advantage. Skip over the trolls . There are lots of good people
here,

Because we were talking about Lipitor, and how much your trigs had
dropped. I am watching your results to see how they correspond with
mine. I was 193 (from 1862) last time, and am getting my quarterlies
done next week. It will be pretty interesting I think.

.. I know that I am not going down from this disease
Hi there Loretta,

I know the above comment was just a typo, but there's a little truth
in it too. Fats, especially *some* fats, are actually helpful for a
diabetic. Like fish oils, olive oil, avocados etc.

As for me,

"I'm not going down from this disease, WITH a high carb diet! "

That still doesn't sound right. But I'll surely get my bg to go
down with less fast, high impact carbs, and *I'll* stay "up" for a
good few more years. :-)

We are running neck and neck . I also take Tricor which is for the tris
Sleepy.

You are doing great also. Your numbers have dropped drastically too.

Annette those are not typos My mind is thinking one thing when I mean
another and the wrong word appears I sometimes wonder how the group
deciphers what I write LOL

Wow, Loretta,

Congrats!

Polly, I watch my carbs and I portion control. I have no more than six
ounces of protein or eight really max a day. I eat very little red meat
and eggs are limited to abut two a month. I dont do much fat but enough
not to be deprived, I think my portion control is really the key
because I dont like being deprived. There isnt much I dont eat but I
watch how much.

P. S. I started my new assignment (at work) two weeks ago tomorrow,
its lots more active, so in addition to my stair stepper sessions on my days

off I'm getting almost too much (at my current level to 'not in the best' of

be better able to as I get into better shape. This is the 5th week of low
carbs and exercise... my BG #s are almost always in the 100's now.
I still have some unexplained fluctuations, but not as radical as even last
week. BTW i lost everything on my hard drive... what is it that i vaguely
remember about being able to retrieve old post via googol. ???
