Pump nitrogen into tyres, has any1 here done this ?
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 17 Comments

1 tyre shop offers to suck out air then pump nitrogen ( extractable from compressed & liquified air & fractional distillation, per my chemistry book ) into 4 tyres for M$15, claims tyres will run cooler less loss of air/gas pressure.

Weird Problem - Transmission and Car Stereo related?
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 3 Comments

Hello All, I hope I posting to the correct newsgroup. I have a weird car problem and I'm hoping maybe someone can help me out. I have a 1998 Mercury Sable and yesterday the car stereo started to cut out. I also noticed that the steering became much more difficult around turns and when moving slowly. The weird thing about the stereo is that if I put the car in Park the stereo plays fine. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Thanks

Speedometer Problem
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 1 Comments

I have a problem with my speedometer, it is stuck on 100mph but, all the other gauges work correctly. I have a 94 S-10 with the 4.3L (W) and auto trans (4L60-E). I just replaced my starter over the weekend and when I was finished I was pulling out of my driveway and noticed that my speedometer is stuck at 100mph and the motor is missing a little bit. I had to drop the bell housing to remove the starter, could I have screwed up any wires to the trans? Or could the speedometer just shorted out...

Good family car any suggestions?
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 6 Comments

Hi all, I can say that I'm new to cars as I've been too busy with other things in my life than to get a license (getting one very soon) so I'm looking for a starters family car for a family of 4. The only requirement I can think of is that it can take 4-6 (including myself), low cost in driving as well as low maintenance costs, and will last for a

Advice needed - New car had over-pressurized tires
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 1 Comments

After driving my new car for 1500 miles, I found out that the dealer had left 48 psi (cold pressure) in all 4 tires instead of the recommended 30 psi. An encounter with a moderate highway pothole produced an unusually heavy jolt, which prompted me to check the tire pressure. A friend of mine said my wife and I are lucky that we didn't have a blowout. The dealer is willing to address any possible damage as an indirect result of the high tire pressure. I want to be sure that they inspect the...

GEO Metro engine miss
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 1 Comments

I'm driving a borrowed Geo Metro and it seems to have a miss at about 60mph. I at first thought that it had a rev limiter on it as it will do this in all the gears. New plugs and wires didn't affect it. What am I missing?? At least 65 to 70 would be good. Thanks, Jim

Alignment Question
Posted on 02-17-2004 | 4 Comments

Hi, I was in an accident where the front suspension was damaged. I needed two new front tires as well. They did a 4 wheel alignment. When I got the car back, I noticed vibration at 65 mph and worse above that. So I took the car back (Contour SVT with BFG KDW tires) for them to look at it. They came back saying the rear tires were out of round and that is what caused the vibration that appeared to be coming from the front. When they did the initial 4 wheel alignment it was with bad rear...

Acura Warranties + Dealer Coverage - NEED HELP ASAP !
Posted on 02-16-2004 | 3 Comments

Hello All, I need some more sound advice. I bought the car 2 years ago as an Acura PreCertified Vehicle. My car just turned 76K and my temperature control guage (blue/red strip) has just locked up. I cannot slide the temperature knob left or right for the air, it's just stuck in the middle. It's seriosuly stuck, not sticking or catching at all. I was going to have the dealer take a look and have it replaced. This would be covered for free correct ?

1968 FORD - DEFECTIVE AIR BAG
Posted on 02-16-2004 | 1 Comments

I have a 1968 Ford Galaxie. The air bag is defective. It's the one on the passenger side. There is lots of heated air coming out of it, but nothing meaningful ever comes out. I attempted to plug the hole where all the hot air is coming from, but my fingers got bit so I had to stop. How do I fix this thing? By the way, the air bag is named Sarah, and she's wearing my ring.

'92 Grand Prix Stalling
Posted on 02-16-2004 | 1 Comments

My '92 Grand Prix LE (V6 3.1L) has started stalling on me in that past couple of weeks. Turns out I also changed a dead battery around that same time. Car starts fine. But no matter how long I let it warm up, often, it will stall as soon as I put it in Drive or Reverse and press on the gas pedal (or while waiting at an intersection). It starts right back fine but might stall again as soon I press on the gas pedal. If it don't stall, it will often hesitate.

Hello and Thank You All for any advice anyone may have to offer. I've owned a 1998 Acura Integra LS w/ an automatic transmission. "License to Kill" or Options?
Posted on 02-13-2004 | 70 Comments

Don't give people a "license to kill," give them OPTIONS! Driving tests and real-life driving (snip) Politically, it is unpopular to suggest somebody who is physically impaired, who is emotionally unbalanced, or who is just plain stupid should not drive. But the fact is; bad driving causes lethal accidents and huge traffic jams every day, all across America. Bad driving
