- Shampoo as body wash?
- Posted by Silly One
Do you think it's okay to use shampoo as a body wash? I recently
discovered Aussie Mega Shampoo and I love the smell (which reminds me
of my old Strawberry Shortcake doll) so I started using it as a body
wash. I'm wondering if there could be anything wrong with this. Does
anyone else use shampoo as a body wash?
TIA,
Nina

I do it all the time if soap is the only alternative. The ingredients are nearly
always the same.

Sure, I do it all the time. It's just easier, one less bottle in the
shower. I have a body wash (Aveeno) in the shower but my shampoo is in a
pump bottle and in an easier place to reach so I usually just use the
shampoo.

Being a 'hair care 'ho' means I have a small collection of shampoos and
conditioners that didn't work as well as my favorites when used on hair. No
problem, I just use those shampoos as body washes and use the conditioners for
shaving legs. In fact, shaving legs with condtioner works so much better than
shaving cream. There's more 'slip' to prevent nicks, a thinner substance than
shaving cream allows a closer shave, and legs are left soft and silky from the
softeners in the conditioner.

You actually want to stay away from antibacterial scrubs. Read the latest
findings on them.

works for me as well....especially when i travel I can use my shampoo with

in ingredients to shampoos......

I do - I use Brocato Clarifying shampoo as body wash. It's minty and
eucalyptus-y, and rinses clean, unlike any body wash I've tried (even Perlier).

It's the inverse of the traditional guy scrubbing approach, rubbing a
bar of soap on your head. <grin/duck>

I wouldn't use any conditioning/ moisturizing shampoo or two in one
shampoos on my body because they can make you break out. I have to wash
my hair first and then my body because vice versa I break out on my
back. Otherwise I seen no problem- shampoos often contain gentler
surfactants than body washes.

Robert:
If the ingredients are similar, would the reverse apply too - using
body wash as shampoo? Or are there ingredients in body wash that can
strip hair color? I'd like to have this option in a pinch when I run
out of shampoo or when I'm travelling to save space in the toiletries
bag. My hair is normal/oily and ATM not colored.
TIA

Shampoo is probably fine for the body but definitely not as a face wash.
There is an ingredient in shampoo that's not good for facial skin--forgot
what it was but apparently it's extremely drying.

Yeah sure why not..they both do the same job anyways. Sometimes when
I'm in a rush, I do it too. It's easier to shampoo and take a shower at
the same time. Debbie
