Shopping in Your Beauty Stash????
Posted by Vicki in DC

Joe's thread of last week about shopping in your closet got me
wondering who has found the *perfect* thing amongst their beauty stash
recently. I've been very happy with all of my summer fragrances but
with summer going into fall find myself wanting to move back to a
pure, fresh kind of scent. I've been reaching for the YR Hamamelis
and Mistral Mer du Sud shower gels on a near daily basis the last 2
weeks and much as I love Water Blossom Ivy, Oillet Sauvages, O Oui,
Diptyque Philosykos (I think these four can be safely considered my
2003 summer fragrance rotation) I wanted something just....fresh. A
search for my Pacifique EDTs from Sephora had come up empty. But
another run through my stash, unearthed the perfect fragrance that I
had forgotten I owned, Geir Ness' Laila.

Found: My new summer into fall fragrance :-). What have y'all run
across that you had forgotten you had and are loving?

I had a similar experience. I bought BCBGirls star a few months ago at TJ
Maxx for super cheap, but decided after a day or two I hated it. It must be
a body chemistry thing, though, because I decided to give it another chance
before it went into the swap/sell pile, and I *loved* it! I've been wearing
it every day.

After all the raving about Dream Cream, I decided to give it another shot.
I had always followed the directions and applied it to dry hair when using
it before, and thought it was way too heavy. Well, I did what another AF'er
suggested and put it on my hair wet, and voila! Super smooth and
moisturized hair. I was thisclose to giving the stuff away, but I've
decided it really is a great product.. the directions on the back are just
terrible.

I also found my bloom lip palette after it had been lost for a year.. does
that count?

I unearthed a palette of Stila shadows in a Trish pan...I have rediscovered
Oasis and Dahlia. I also dug out Stila after reading the lemming lists.

Yeah, I just put a dime sized amount (I have chin-length hair) on wet hair
and blow-dry. If I still had long hair, I think it would be great to put a
little on the ends for some extra leave-in conditioning. Putting it on dry
just weighed my hair down and made it look greasy, but putting it on wet
lets you evenly distribute it, which seems to do the trick.

Good luck!

I rediscovered my Stila palette especially the peach shadows. I am
gathering the red lipsticks
that were put away at the end of winter. I wear coral and pink in spring
and summer so it's
like finding entirely new products when I look for the reds.

Great! My hair is not quite shoulder length. I really didn't like what it
did to my hair when it was dry. Maybe these frizz creams need to go on wet
hair. I have the V05 Sheer Hairdressing and I put it on dry hair, it stops
the frizz but it looks kinda greasy.

I think I'll keep my Dream Cream and try it your way tomorrow

Yeah, boy! This is how I use it too, Jennifer. On wet hair. It didn't do a
*thing* for me on dry hair!

I was recently rummaging around in the top of my closet for a box of old family
pictures that I knew was up there somewhere, and I came across a Coach
pocketbook I'd forgotten I had! Do not ask me why it was in the box of family
photos. I ain't got no idea. But there it was! I mentioned it today in the
What Are You Wearing thread. It's a very light tan color and actually much
smaller than the pocketbooks I usually carry. It doesn't hold a whole lot, but
I sure enjoyed carrying it today to a meeting at my son's school.

I also recently found a brand new, unused tube of BBW Honey Almond body cream.
I knew I had the body spray, but didn't know I had more body cream, too! This
is discontinued and is one of my favorite scents for fall. I was so happy to
find this! -- Beckie

I found my 3-bottle sample set of Remede Convertible Cleanser that I never
tried. Gasp. I haven't seen anything on AF about this for a while. Is anyone
still using this stuff?

I was cleaning up a pile of papers (not in beauty stash area) and I found
another Pure Tiffany sample, besides the one I keep in my gym bag.

In Style (I think, it might have been another magazine) said Red and
Maple are the "in" lipstick shades this fall. I have my Lancôme "Sugared

soon as it cools off a bit.
