Re: Fashion/Beauty Magazines that Influenced You

Very few people can afford the high-end designer clothing that's displayed in fashion magazines. Luckily, though, several mags now contain a regular feature showing decent lower-end versions of the same item, which I find helpful. Also, for me the whole point of reading fashion magazines is to get inspiration, ideas for new combinations that I can put together for myself with less expensive pieces. And anyway, there are always sample sales...

Yes, yes, yes! We read those when I was a "Senior Girl" in sleepaway camp. Sneaky oblique references to "going all the way"! Wowie and zowie! EMiriamD "No fashion is ever a success unless it is used as a form of seduction." -- Christian Dior

A soft case is easier to fit into a suitcase or carryon bag. Tape anything you think might leak and then put it in a small zip loc bag. I bought the BB spun gold set at Nordstrom last Saturday and the oblong black bag will be perfect for brushes and eye makeup. I think it will hold

I have a really cool makeup case I got from Wal-Mart for $10 that is leopard and quite large...it's canvas. Not all of the makeup bags at Wal-Mart are cheap crap (lol). It looks like a GWP bag really! I love it. I can keep my entire Clinique stash (excluding skincare & fragrance) in there. The zipper is the main thing I look for in a makeup bag. It needs to be sturdy. HTH. Kristin

I haven't run out of my stash yet, but I know I'll be pining for OoO Complete Radiance powder foundation when I finally do. I also haven't run out of St. Ives Chocolate Almond Scrub yet, but I'll miss it when it's gone. I pine for the St. Ives Chocolate body wash (not so much now, but definitely in the fall/winter.) Right now, I am absolutely pining for either Iced Pineapple by Bath and Body

I don't remove makeup before bed. Not even mascara/eye liner. My poor husband! Luckily I wake up before him most days, but not always. I need to get out of my brown/taupe eye shadow rut, but I: - keep buying more brown/taupe shades - keep putting off signing up for a makeup class I put off getting my hair trimmed, because I'm trying to grow it out, and I know it's starting to show...

Grannie Valerie wil chime in here again too - and tell the story of the large centipede of a scar on upper arm - melanoma, baby. I won't go out for more than a minute without a hat now. Keep hats in cars, on the boat -- also spf 50 ocean potion goes on face every morning, whether I plan to leave the house or not. Just to etablish the habit, I do it. val

websites with beauty articles?

I love websites like: MochaSofa ( http://www.mochasofa.ca/ ) Substance.com Women24.com that have fully-developed style sections with interesting beauty articles and nice, browsable archives. I can sit for hours and read to my heart's content. In fact, I've done that on these sites, and now I'm on the lookout for more.

Inner beauty (OT?)
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 10 Comments

Hello, I'm not certain if this post is off-topic or not, because it doesn't pertain to fashion or outer beauty, but it's just as important. Could someone please give me a workable definition of "inner beauty"? I went to Merriam-Webster online, and even they didn't have an answer. I have my own idea of what it is, but I welcome your responses.

Pregnancy--let's talk about yours!

Hi friends, Why on earth do a lot of women have vivid dreams during pregnancy? You know, ridiculous dreams that defy explanation. When I was pregnant with my first child, I dreamed that I had given birth to her and she was--get this! She was a bar of Ivory Soap. (big LOL!) My sister told me that during her pregnancy, she dreamt that her husband was playing his piano on the wall. She said the piano was ON THE WALL! And oh, the cravings. I didn't have the unusual cravings like sardines
