- Hi and Low End Beauty Doppelgangers?
- Posted by Vicki in DC
What hi and low end doppelgangers have y'all found? Mine are:
Prestige Angora lining the lip and filling in = MAC Del Rio
BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar body spray = Burberry Brit (to my nose anyway)
Rite Aid Pure Spring Milk shower creme = Fresh Milk-Milk shower creme

Terrific thread!!
I can't say for sure but I think I remember someone on AF comparing the
Clearasil daily foaming face wash to an expensive Japanese cleanser. The
Clearasil is an excellent product, BTW.
I have used and really liked the Natural Esscents Sugar Limone scrub (body, not
face) which reminds me of the Fresh Sugar scrub.

Bonne Bell lip d'Votion Latte Love is quite similar to Stila Banana lipglaze.
Also a few of them are similar in color to Bobbi Brown shimmer glosses.
Coty Vanilla Musk is similar to BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar
Not many here..I just am not using much low end lately and what I am, I can't
figure out higher end doppelgangers for as I prefer the low end for a reason.

OPI Mat-adore Red = Rimmel Flame (same shade and staying power IMO)
There's another Rimmel shade that's identical to an OPI one but I'm drawing
a blank on it.

I used to use Nexxus Humectress conditioner - about $20 a bottle.
IMO, Suave's copycat version is just as good. A recent sale at my grocery
store had it for 4 bottles for $5.
This is an EXCELLENT thread. I've already saved quite a few posts and am
looking forward to reading more. -- Beckie

China Glaze Awakening is a near-match for UD X nail polish.
VO5 Sheer Hairdressing and Frieda's Secret Weapon are similar to Bumble
& Bumble Grooming Creme, Fekkai's Glossing Cream, and TiGi AfterParty.
(they are *similar*, they are *not* true doppelgangers)
Clinique rinse-off foaming cleanser has a thick, creamy lather that
rivals many Japanese cleansers, for about $15 for a 5oz tube. Much more
economical than, say, Komenuka Bijin (which I used to use).
Garnier Fructis deep conditioning hair mask (in the jar) is similar to
the Feria Pro conditioner.
Pond's exfoliating scrub is about the same consistency as Caudalie's,
and is remarkably good for a $6 drugstore product.
Vaseline Healthy Hand Essentials is better than most high-end hand
creams I've tried - I can't compare it to anything but it beats, say,
L'Occitane, hands down (pun not intended) IMHO.
Shi Kai shower gel feels and smells like a much more expensive product,
but it's fairly cheap. I like it better than Philosophy bodywashes and
the French Vanilla scent is as good as many of the Cookbook type scents
too.
L'Oreal le Grand Kohl eye pencils wear as well for me as MAC Kohls and
several other higher-end soft pencils. Some of MAC's colors are much
better, but I love the L'Oreal in the Sable color (an almost-black
brown) and the Cafe, which is a nice, dark, just plain brown that's good
for a really subtle look.

I think that BBW's Gardenia Lily is an excellent low-end lotion to use
instead of Marc Jacobs. I still use the MJ perfume instead of the BBW body
spray, but the cheaper lotion is superb for layering, IMO.
I've also been very impressed with Got2b's products.. they have replaced KMS
and Redken for stuff like the shine spray and texturizing creme.. the
quality seems identical to me.
Great thread!

That's good to know.
Wow, I have Cafe and Sable (as well as Onyx)

Great minds!!
I think our coloring is similar (dark hair, dark eyes, fair skin), so
that doesn't surprise me that we like some of the same eyeliner colors.
I've used those L'Oreal pencils since college, and have rebought the
Sable and the Cafe both, even though it literally takes me years to
finish one.
I need a new black pencil, I should get the Onyx too!

CG Champagne e/s = Stila Kitten (well almost; Kitten is a bit too shimmery for
my taste so the CG works great and the resulting applied color on my skin is
almost identical to Kitten)

Yep, pink undertones in winter, yelowy in summer.
I wish they weren't so long. I like to get close to the mirror but the end
of the pencil always hits it - lol. They should last me forever.

Well I'm olive-undertoned year-round, so we're not exact coloring twins.
But close enough to like similar eye liners, I guess!
Oh, I know what you mean!! They go on for days. I actually like mine
better when they're kind of old and they're worn down to a more normal
length. I have a little less dexterity with the really long pencils. But
they're still great. And the extra long length means they do last ages.

I'm sure that would be pretty easy, but then you'd have one double-ended
pencil (from the end that started out with the "point" on it), one
regular one, and only one cap for three "points". Now, you could save
the caps from old pencils I guess, but they always seem to be in pretty
sad shape by the time I replace the pencils.
Or you could leave the ends uncapped and just sharpen it before each
use, I guess. Or find something else to serve as a cap. But that all
seems like too much trouble to me - I can deal with them as they are.

If I was smart I could - lol.
Thanks for the idea

It's funny you should bring this up... Just today I was talking to a
friend about a line found at Sally's Beauty Supply called Beyond the
Zone. This line knocks off high-end hair styling products especially
the ones found in TiGi's BedHead line. I love the hairspray that makes
your hair stay in place all day but it doesn't look like you have
hairspray on. Sorry I forgot the name of it. It's in a giant lavendar
spray can.

Quite a few Milani eyeshadows are copies:
Storm = Mac Black Tied
Sun Goddess = Mac Amber Lights
Almondine = Mac Brule
Atlantis = Mac Electric Eel
Garden Mist = Mac Juxt
Taffy = Mac Pink Freeze
Java Bean is similar to Mac Mulch, Icy Plum is similar to Mac Shale,
Moonlight is similar to UD Roadstripe and Mac Vellum. There are some
others as well, can't think of them offhand.
Milani Blush in Luminous is very similar to Nars Orgasm.
Oh, and let's not forget WNW 666 is very similar to Chanel Nude
lipliner.
