You look fabulous, dahlingk! (Nordstrom Beauty Event report)
Posted on 10-07-2003 | 2 Comments

Melanie (mesw) and I got up quite early Saturday morning to be present at the first big beauty event at the STL Nordstrom. Thankfully, the caterers had brewed plenty of coffee because there were about 400 beauty addicts in need of caffeination. We had seats in one of the front rows, upon which were placed two cute mustard/burgundy striped hat boxes tied together; in the bottom was breakfast (fruit, Dannon and a brick of streuseled coffee cake) and in the top was a small boatload of goodies...

"At home" beauty treatments
Posted on 10-05-2003 | 9 Comments

Does anyone make at home type beauty treatments (egg or oatmeal facials, mayonaisse hair conditioner, things like that?) I would be interested in hearing some of the things others use that they seem to think work well for them.

Saks Beauty Event Oct. 9-11
Posted on 10-04-2003 | 8 Comments

I've searched the boards at MUA and come up with nothing in the way of concrete information about this event. The Saks website isn't helping either. Does anyone know any more than the special advertising insert in this month's Vogue is telling? Here's what Vogue is saying about the event and the lines involved: ¥ Spend $75 and get a free tote (looks only OK and no mention of samples) ¥ Trish: Book signings for The Power of Makeup in Atlanta, NYC, Chevy Chase and and Tysons

I can't resist custom fading my jeans. Yep, I'm one of those very untrendy girls who buys her jeans UNfaded *gasp!* Very easy to do: put the jeans on, jump in a nice warm bath and fade away the desired areas with a plastic scrubbing pad. And to make things more interesting, why not have some nice heels on as well :) ? Doing it with a scrubber means you'll get that nice gradual colour transition between the fade patch and the rest of the jeans; I usually touch it up later by scrubbing dilute...

do u take part in bizarre beauty?
Posted on 09-25-2003 | 2 Comments

I just watched this segment as I was eating my lunch and before going off to work. I probably won't be buying any of these products because I'm on a strict budget after finding out that I'm pregnant. Some of these products look really interesting. I know there are a lot of creme de la mer users out there, but does anyone use any of the other products? http://www.thismorning.co.uk/ BIZARRE BEAUTY

Giveaway: beauty grab bag, no strings attached!
Posted on 09-17-2003 | 1 Comments

So I've got some stuff that's not really swappable (at least by my standards - there's not enough left of it, or I've had it on my swap list for months and had no takers) and I want to get rid of it. There's an assortment of cosmetics, nail and hair care, and skin/body care. Everything is very clean and in excellent condition. I'm not going to list everything here (because it's a giveaway and I'm feeling lazy), but brands include Shiseido, I Nuovi, Kanebo, Clinique, Sebastian, and OPI. There...

Bergdorf's beauty event?

Does anyone know if Bergdorf's has a beauty event? Neimans starts this week and since they are owned by the same company (I think) I was wondering if BG has one and if so, when? Sandra in PA

Nicest Fashion/Beauty Compliment You've Given and Received?

One of the nicest things anyone has said to me in a while was the other morning when this lady told me my smile made her feel like smiling too. She said it was a REAL HAPPY smile, and that made me feel so good. I think I smiled for the rest of the day. And it made me realize that sometimes nice fashion is as simple as a smile! I saw this other lady in the grocery store not long ago, and she was wearing a sugar bowl. A SUGAR BOWL! It was a miniature one, granted, but it was definitely a...

Cheap (Beauty or Fashion) Thrills???
Posted on 09-11-2003 | 8 Comments

DH had to make a Walmart run the other night and poking around the bath/beauty area, I found a Mary Kate and Ashley Energize Spa Set for $2. How could I resist? What have you been unable to resist? On a related note I'd love to hear the latest anyone's found at Big Lots and the other closeout stores since surely *they* will count as cheap thrills too! And a few summer fashion and accessory items are also still around on clearance....what have you found and love?

Shopping in Your Beauty Stash????
Posted on 09-11-2003 | 10 Comments

Joe's thread of last week about shopping in your closet got me wondering who has found the *perfect* thing amongst their beauty stash recently. I've been very happy with all of my summer fragrances but with summer going into fall find myself wanting to move back to a pure, fresh kind of scent. I've been reaching for the YR Hamamelis and Mistral Mer du Sud shower gels on a near daily basis the last 2 weeks and much as I love Water Blossom Ivy, Oillet Sauvages, O Oui, Diptyque Philosykos (I...

(soy, paraffin, you name it). I don't buy any of the above items any more and I'm floored at how much money I save (especially on sugar scrubs, since I use them almost daily). Yeah, it costs a little to get started and to buy basics like pure shea butter, mango butter, etc., but it's way cheaper than buying any manufacturer's WAY too high priced equivalents. Dana in DE
