Naproxen Sodium
Posted by Kathy

Yesterday, I went to see my doctor because the Vioxx that I had been
taking was not working. Anyhow he put me on Tramadol (Ultram) and
Naproxen Sodium. Isn't naproxen sodium found in over the counter
medications such as Aleve. Why the prescription? Is it more stronger?
I did notice that it was around 540 mg.

Hi Kathy, Yes, it is the same thing only in prescription strength. I
took it for 6 years three times a day before my family doctor sent me to a
RD to be told I have RA. It did keep me working but for someone with
inflam.arth.,,,, the damage marches on. I would always take it with food
because it is really hard on a persons stomach.

Also, Walmart sells a generic brand pain-reliver called Naproxen
sodium it is excellent and much cheaper to buy than Aleve.

P.S. It works better than Aleve too!

Thanks, I will try that. I take Aleve for a headache or joint pain
sometimes but I will look anything cheaper that does the job. Oh, by the
way,,, I also take a great deal of medicine to control my RA and do not
expect Aleve to control that and the same thing would be true with PA.
