I have Psoriatic Arthritis -- What to do?
Posted by Kirby

I've been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, and have been taking
Methotrexate for about 3 years now. Last year, my doctor started me
on "Remicade", which has proven to be very helpful for my condition.

Well, my health care provider has recently decided to stop covering
this because it is so expensive. Expensive for them, there is no way
that I can afford it? If I have to pay for this service by myself, it
will be thousands and thousands of dollars each year.

I've been scouring the web trying to find the solution to my problem.
I see that some people have been on food elimination diets, others
have taken antibiotics, others believe in herbal treatments.

I'm so confused, and yet at the same time I know that I have to do
something. Can anyone help me out? Can you email me and tell me what
you have done to cure this condition.

Thanks So Much,
Kirby

Hi Kirby, Your insurance can not just decide to stop covering a medicine
after they have been doing it for awhile..... Time to see your lawyer.
PA IMO is one of the toughest types of inflam.arth. to control and
Remicade or Enbrel or a couple more of the anti-tnf drugs do the best job
of that. You did not say how much Methx you were taking when you changed
to Remicade. You might be able to go back to Methx at an increased amount
and control your PA. I am assuming that you continued to take Methx at a
reduced amount while on Remicade. This is something you and your RD are
going to have to work out. You might also find out that Arava works for
you,,,,,, again,,, something for you and your RD to work out.
A good diet and weight control can help all of us but supplements,,,,
over the counter products,,,, will not control something as tough as PA.
Good luck with it.

I have the same disease and I also was taking remicade. I started to have
side effects with remicade and switched to enbrel. Enbrel works just as well
and I like it a whole lot better.

I have a friend with Psoriatic arthritis as well. He takes
methotrexate and naproxen sodium for his arthritis. He seems to be
doing well.

My arthritis got worse this past winter and I've been having
difficulty walking stairs. A friend of mine introduced a new "wonder"
juice to me. It's called Xango. It seems to be a magical and powerful
solution to many health problems, including Arthritis, heart problems,
allergies, inflammation, prevention of cancer, etc. A fruit called
Mangosteen from Southeast Asia contains powerful healing elements:
Xanthones. I've heard of stories of people in this country taking the
new juice product and get much improved very soon. I've been taking
this juice for about two weeks and I was able to ride bicycle for
about 20 miles yesterday and did not feel any pain in my knees! I
also feel much more energetic in general. I'm recommending this to
all my friends....Any medication has side effects and are damaging to
other systems of the body. I try to stay away from medications. Not
to mention the cost of medications….Besides, the juice tastes so good.
Thousands of people are getting on this great Xango thing now. I
don't know much about the scientific research but you can go to this
website to get the answers: http://www.mangosteenmd.com. I think you
should just try about 2 or 3 bottles first to see if it works for you.
3 oz a day is recommended (3 times). You can go to this website
www.GreatLiving.NaturesWellnessSecret.com to buy. Best of luck.
