- DJD in the spine
- Posted by DanneGirl
My husband has DJD affecting his lower back. Most of the time he is stuck
at home with ice on his back but that does not seem to help. Does anyone
have any ideas of therepy's, medications, anything to help? His
chiropractor does not seem to have any other ideas either.
Please help!!
Thank-you

DanneGirl, Check around and find a good spinal orthopedist. With DJDD
it ain't gonna get better, threaten :^) you're husband into the right
mind set and then just make him have it repaired.

That is good advice. I hate to say this because sometimes they do some
good butttttt a chiro can do some more damage also. In other words if they
give up on a problem, you know it bad because it is how they make their
living and its time to take Butches advice.

Thank-you for the orthopedist advise. Unfortunetly the one orthopedist in
my town has a very bad reputation and the next closest is about 3 hours
away. On the good side my husband went to his chiro again yesturday and
she said his back is staying in place a little better each time. She
recommended walking around the block once a day and slowly increasing his
walking distance as his back becomes stronger. (My husband is a large man
and his weight pulls his back out of place.)I guess it is going to be a
LONG road to "recovery". As long as my husband remembers his limits he
should be able to "put off" surgery for a few years. My biggest concern
is that my husband's uncle was put on disability at the same age my
husband is (that was 25 years ago though). Does anyone have any
suggestions as far as exercises that don't put any pressure on the lower
back?
PS Thank-you Butch and Harv for your quick responses. I told them to my
husband and he agrees with my opinion on the local ortho.
