Trying another routine

Ok, I'm trying some new things.

1) Morning and evening face wash. St. Ives Apricot Scrub Ultra Gentle for
Sensitive Skin. Here is the description from their website:
Only St. Ives® Invigorating Apricot Scrub expertly blends pure Swiss glacial
water and nourishing Swiss botanicals, with 100% natural exfoliants that
clean deep into pores, and gently remove dull, dead skin to instantly reveal
noticeably smooth, radiant, healthy skin. In just one use you can see and
feel the incredible difference.

One of my friends who knows a bit about skin care, went on about how bad
crushed walnut shell was for skin, so I decided to switch the Carley's for
something gentler. I know a lot of derms don't like scrubs, but I feel like
a little bit of scrub helps me. This scrub uses a few tiny jojoba beads,
and they are definitely gentle. This is never going to dry me out. The
detergents, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Decyl Glucoside, and Cocamidopropyl
Betaine, and very mild amphoteric sufactants. St. Ives claims this is
noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic. I'm giving up BP with this, but Paula B.
says acne fighting ingredients in a cleanser get washed down the drain
before they can do much good, so maybe that's ok. This cost me $2.74 for 6
ounces.

Ingredients:
Dl Water, Acrylates/C12-24 Pareth-25 Acrylate Copolymer, Sorbitol, Disodium
Cocoamphodiacetate, Decyl Glucoside, Jojoba Esters, Cocamidopropyl Betaine,
Polysorbate 80, Polyquaternium-22, Matricaria Extract (Chamomilla Recutita),
Primula Veris Extract, Sambucus Nigra Extract, Sunflower Extract (Helianthus
Annuus), Apricot Extract (Prunus Armeniaca), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein,
Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea,
Methylparaben, Propylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, Sodium Hydroxide, Titanium
Dioxide, Iron Oxide, D&C Red No. 30, FD&C Yellow No. 5

2) Middle of the day shower. Earth Science A-D-E Creamy Cleanser For
Normal to Dry Skin. Here is the description from their webiste:
Formulated with rich natural fruit oils in a creamy base to cleanse the skin
and remove make-up and impurities without drying soaps. Moisturizes while it
cleanses to keep skin soft without a greasy feeling. Use daily as your
regular cleanser for dry and normal skin. Water-rinsible. Hypo-allergenic.
Excellent for removing oil based cosmetics. ph 5.0.

Again, I didn't choose the oily/acne formula. Loaded with oils, but the
manufacturer claims it is noncomedogenic. Besides my oily T-zone, the rest
of my skin is normal-to-slightly dry. I have also have a bit of dermatosis
that gets really irritated when I shower. This is about is gentle as I'm
going to find because it contains no detergents whatsoever. Two of the
ingredients rate a 3 on the comedogenic scale, so I hope this doesn't break
me out. On the other hand, the Carley's products use Coconut oil, which is
a 4, and I couldn't tell that it was breaking me out. This cost me $6.55
for 8 ounces. This leaves my skin soft and not oily. I really like it so
far, but if this doesn't work out, I finally found a place that sells Earth
Science Clearly Cranberry Cleanser for acne prone skin.

Ingredients:
Water, Soybean Oil, Aloe Juice, Glyceryl Stearate, Sweet Almond Oil, PEG-8
Stearate, Apricot Oil, Soya Sterol, Glycerine, Avocado Oil, Tocopherol,
Grapefruit Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Allantoin, Ascorbic Acid,
Xanthan Gum, Retinyl Palmitate, Cholecalciferol, Fragrance (Natural),
Phenoxyethanol.

3) At night, apply a thin layer of Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment
Lotion to my face. I read a lot of positive reviews about this online.
Here is the description from their website:
Neutrogena® Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment is a daily moisturizing treatment
that treats and helps prevent breakouts-while helping to fade marks and even
out blotches from past breakouts. This oil-free formula makes your skin
look clearer and healthier. Salicylic Acid, a highly effective acne-fighting
ingredient recommended by dermatologists, helps eliminate and prevent
breakouts. Vitamins A, E and Pro-Vitamin B5 fight damage to skin and help
restore healthy-looking skin. Natural fruit extracts help reveal a clearer,
smoother complexion.

This contains 1.5% salicylic acid and an unknown amount of glycolic acid.
Manufacturer says noncomedogenic. I paid $4.47 for 2.5 ounces.

Ingredients:
Purified Water, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Glycolic Acid, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol,
Steareth-20, Grape Extract, Kiwi Fruit Extract, Honey Extract, Oat Extract,
Retinyl Palmitate, Panthenol, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methyl
Gluceth-20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Bisabolol, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate,
PEG-100 Stearate, Sclerotium Gum, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben,
Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Hydroxide, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Red #40

Yeah, did you give up the Natural Beauty Cleansing Bar, Stuart? Are you
still using the Earth Science sulfate-free shampoo?

something that I have to be so careful with. Too bad, because my friends
say it made me smell so good. Maybe once a week? If I start breaking out
again, I have a feeling I'll bring it out.

Yes, I'm happy with the Earth Science Sulfate-Free Shampoo. Going to try
Earth Science Intensicare Conditioner as soon as I run out of Clairol Herbal
Essence Clean Rinsing Normal-to-Oily.

I think I also am going to lessen the frequency of the Nature's Plus Natural
Beauty Cleansing Bar myself because I am beginning to see some dryness
despite the Aubrey's (Alcohol-Free) Toner. Yeah, maybe once or twice a week
is better....and back to my original Cetaphil.

I like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. I wonder if I could add a few drops
of essential oils to it to give it a terrific fragrance.

I always add 2 drops of Niaouli essential oil in one big bottle of the
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, and I LOVE IT!!! (Lavender oil will also be great,
I'm sure.)

Ok, either something I'm using is clogging the pores in my nose really
badly, or something I've stopped using was keeping them clear before. I'm
gonna take a guess and lay off the St. Ives Apricot Scrub and just use the
Earth Science Creamy Cleanser. I'm just guessing that one because I've
noticed a slightly waxy feel to my skin after using the St. Ives, like maybe
it is leaving a teensy bit of residue behind.

Just checked your St. Ives Scrub and you are CORRECT! There are a lot of
stuff in it that package that I wouldn't even dare apply on my face, more so
to rub on my skin. (I am so biased to the Botanical MicroDermabrasion Cream
by BelleDerm am using!)
