TONER and ACNE-prone skin
Posted by GV

Is it something that really should be part of one's skincare regimen?

If so, what is the best toner to use for acne-prone skin? I easily react to
alcohol so it has to be one that's alcohol-FREE.

Thanks in advance,
GV

In my experience a waste of money. Use a face wash that rinses completely
from your face

Hmm, just the opposite for me, my skin absolutely requires toner. No matter
what I use to clean my skin, when I use toner additional stuff ends up on
the cotton ball. When I don't use toner, I breakout.

Many non alcohol toners are out there if you do decide to use toner, you
can always try Witch Hazel.

is Witch Hazel any good?

The Witch Hazel sounds like a good idea. But for now, I decided to try the
Earth Science AloeVera Toner (thanks for the introduction, Stuart Price!) I
should be receiving the package this week.

Thanks, GV

I'm fond of the Nutrogena non-alchohol toner.

I am now using Aubrey Organics Alcohol-FREE Facial Toner which I got from
the Nature's Outlet. No harsh additives in this one - ingredients include
DI water, aloe vera, witch hazel citrus seed extract, Vit A, C & E, Lavender
Water.

After I washing my face with the Natural Beauty Bar (also from Nature's
outlet), I follow it with this toner. And so far, NO drying, NO irritation,
and NO ZITS!!! (Maybe, Stuart should try the Toner, too.)

I am also regularly exfoliating my skin 2-3x a week with the Botanical
Microdermabrasion Cream (bellederm.com) - my skin loves this!

For night-time moisturizing, I use Carley's or the generic African Shea
Butter.

I also take the High Potency Vitamin B complex before bedtime, and lots of
orange juice in the AM. I used to take Omega-3 regularly, but since I
consume a lot of nuts & seafood in my diet this days I decided to put this
on hold.

This group had really increased my awareness about skincare. I will continue
to follow the discussions and pick up your suggestions.

Thanks,
GV

Just visited you site. I wish they've put the list of ingredients in all
those products. I am quite hesitant now to buy anything for my skin without
knowing what's in the bottle, especially when they are a little expensive.

Thanks,
GV

GV, I find that a toner is really important because it protects the skin
from the drying effects of any topicals that you might be using. The best
thing I have found is proactiv's Revitalizing Toner. It doesn't have
alcohol and is not drying yet it still helps with my acne.

i think the toner is necessary after you wash your face.
The pH of water is 7, but ur face skin lives best in a lower pH.
The purpose of the toner is to decrease the pH of the skin after
washing .......
