New breakouts? Could it be from your conditioner?
I've found my HG for this, Reviva Seaweed Soap
(http://www.mothernature.com/shop/detail.cfm/sku/85753 for ingredient
and review info, I buy it local tho)
It does contain the walnut shell scrubs, and it is scratchy. I'd never
touch my face with it, but it keeps my shoulders and back clear. I've
never had a big problem there, mostly just breakouts from working out. I
am very pleased with this soap for non-sensitive skin areas like the
back and shoulders.. It's inexpensive, natural ingredients, lasts a LONG
time, and won't bleach your towels or anything.
But if I were you, I would use the Carley's since you have it already.
Just be sure to rinse well or wear white..
I think extra gentle exfolation (chemical or baking soda strength (extra
fine)) every day is fine. It's more gentle than using a washcloth. But I
never "scrub" my face, with a cloth or anything. Just lightly smooth the
stuff on and rinse off (my face). Back and shoulders are thicker skins,
so can take a bit more exfoliation, imo. Unless one has super fragile
skin, of course.
I've tried other Tea Tree oil *bar soaps*, and I wanted to love them,
but they didn't work on my face. I've never found any bar soap that
works for my facial skin, none of them rinse off completely like
gels/liquids do. Not sure if it's my skin or the tap water that's the
problem. But bar soaps are notorious for leaving a film. The Seaweed
soap doesn't seem to cause problems this way, but I only use it on my
shoulders/back. I don't think I used the Tea Tree oil bar soaps on only
my shoulders, so I can't say if they would work better or worse there.
I find that moisturizing on my shoulders helps a lot in preventing
breakouts. (I don't find this necessarily true on my face.) But I use up
my Total Effect (with niacin) and/or other moisturizers that I don't
love for my face (but are geared towards clear skin), on my arms and
shoulders, and it makes a noticeable difference in keeping them smooth
and problem free.

What about Oxy 10 Balance Oil-Free Maximum Strength Acne Wash? It appears
to use very mild detergents. I think I've used it before, though, and it
dried me out.

That's what I use on my face in the shower, when I decide to use BPO. No
complaints, it's the brand I always buy

We'll see how it does. It usually take me about a week to see if it's going
to dry me out. Did you notice Citric Acid is the first ingredient? That's
very unusual. Usually one sees citric acid near the end of the ingredient
list to balance the PH. I added 3 drops of essential oil to give it a nice
fragrance.
Active Ingredients: Contains: Benzoyl Peroxide (10% w/w)
Inactive Ingredients: Citric Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Diazolidinyl
Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Cocoyl
Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Water, Xanthan Gum

Thanks for all the info. I just washed my face with the Oxy 10% BP wash
(left it on 1-2 minutes before rinsing). My face feels hot like I have a
mild sunburn. It might be kind of pink, too.
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is supposed to be less irritating than Sodium
Laureth Sulfate which is less irritating than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
