- Question about Benzoil Peroxide + Antibiotics
- Posted by littleearthquakes
When I went to the derm, I explained that benzoil peroxide seemed to
help, but I needed to get to the next level of clearness. The obvious
step was to try an RX Benzoil Peroxide that included an anitbiotic in
it. It wasnt BenzoMycin, but I think something similar.
A BP formula that I bought here at a local store ruined my clothing
(bleached). Proactive's BP didnt ruin my clothing but it DID dye my
eyebrows orange, even when I kept it away from my eyes at all costs (I
guess it runs down my greasy face). Because of the annoying problems
with the BP's the derm suggested trying Retin-A Micro.
I'm concerned that maybe jumping to something totally new (Retin-A
Micro) was a mistake, and that I should have just tried a BP +
antibiotic combo.
DOes moderate success with a BPO alone generally mean that BPO plus an
antibiotic is likely to bring even greater success?

BPO plus an antibiotic does not bring greater success. In fact, the added
antibiotic is pretty much useless and only contributes to resistance.
Luckily, bacteria don't become resistant to BPO.
Retin-A will make you break out before you see improvement. Don't expect to
see results for another 4 to 8 weeks. Tazorac or Azelex may have been a
better choice for you. It's not a big deal... just hang in your room and
listen to Tori with the lights off on nights you don't want to go out cuzza
yr skin.
Have you tried changing your diet? Many people are having success by eating
natural foods... organic meats, veggies, fruits, legumes, and some nuts.
Try not to eat refined foods, which seem to have high carb counts.... bread,
muffins, sweets, sodas, rice (unless it is natural brown rice), etc. These
foods seem to cause acne.
If you'd like to use a really great BPO product, try Carley's Clear and
Smooth.

Where does one get the Finishing Soap? I'll be very happy to try that one.
Thanks,

Thanks a million!!! I discovered my Finishing Soap sitting in the bathroom
drawer all this time. I tried it for the first time and my face feels
squeaky clean!!!

It is really great. I'm actually using the Carley's every other day (if
that often) because I don't even need to exfoliate thanks to the soap.

I must have just been lucky with Retin A, my skin didn't get worse before it
got better, it just got better
