Best lip product (on Accutane)
Posted on 05-11-2004 | 15 Comments

Hi guys, I'm almost a month into my accutane and all is good except my bottom lip is dry and cracked constantly! I'm using Blistex at the moment but I have to re-apply every 5 minutes! Could somebody suggest something better, that lasts longer and is available in Canada? Thanks, Buddee.

Achy muscles/joints on Accutane
Posted on 05-10-2004 | 16 Comments

I'm in my third month on Accutane (Sotret) and have noticed lately that I have a sore neck and back; I always feel like I've slept on it wrong. Also, strangely enough, my hips are often very stiff when I go to get up out of a chair. i'm not in the best condition physically and I sometimes have to sit for long peroids, but I've never noticed this before. I re-read the warnings with the Sotret and it said to consult doctor immediately if any of the following "unlikely but serious side...

Soya - powerful DHT blocker
Posted on 04-29-2004 | 7 Comments

A recently published study shows that Soya Isoflavones block the action of DHT, which is a major factor in male pattern baldness, prostate cancer, and acne. Apparently when Soya is ingested it forms a molecule in the gut called Equol, which binds to DHT, effectively rendering it inactive. The action of Equol on DHT is different to that of drugs like Propecia and doesn't produce the side effects commonly seen with those drugs. These findings are the result of credible, reliable clinical...

Blocking hairspray from face
Posted on 04-28-2004 | 7 Comments

Okay, this might sound weird, but bear with me. There was an episode of "Full House" where Jesse and Joey invent a "hairspray blocker". It was a clear-plastic sheet that had a handle on it and to use it you simply covered your face when you sprayed. For some reason this ep stuck in my head and I always thought it was such a great idea for a product. Anyone know if it really exists?

Accutane...In the end...the ending...
Posted on 04-24-2004 | 15 Comments

Today is week 20 for me on Accutane and I'm supposed to be finished with Accutane by tonight. But right now I have 1½ week left of Accutane and I'm completely finished. Just 1½ week to go. The reason I have 1½ week left is because I asked if I could be put on for an extra week for the 1 pill that I didn't take like 2 months ago because the derm lowered my dose and I just took 1 pill less than normal. Besides that 1 pill I took it twice a day for the last 20 weeks. It's already worked and...

Fuck this! I want Accutane!
Posted on 04-20-2004 | 8 Comments

Moderate acne since I was a teenager. I'm now 35 and so sick and tired of waking up to find new inflamed red zits in various places on my face. No course of treatment seems to help. I thought RetinAMicro (evening) Clindamycin with a little BPO (morning) was starting to help but I'm 4 months into the regimen and been breaking out all week! Arghhhhhh! The only reason I HAVENT taken Accutane yet is because of the reported hairloss. I've got thin hair with some recession and dont need...

The Myth of Food Allergy and Acne
Posted on 04-10-2004 | 7 Comments

As someone who has suffered decades with this disease, here is my opinion on the whether food can cause acne. Yes and no. Yes if you eat certain foods. But it depends on what additives or chemicals are in the food. That's why a No answer is also appropriate. Why is there such a rash of adult acne in the US? More than in most other countries of the world. We also have fairly high incidence rates of cancer. When did the problem start to surface, and more importantly, what were its causes? Here...

Retin-A proving to be ineffective
Posted on 04-07-2004 | 8 Comments

I have been using Retin-A for just over 4 weeks now and I am very disappointed with this product's effectiveness. In fact, I believe that I would have been better off without it, for it appears to have made more of my acne appear in the first week or so of using the product, yet it hasn't really made any of it disappear. Do I need to give it more time or should I just discontinue use of it in favour of some other treatment? And what other treatment bar Accutane is there available for me?

Hello, This is my first time posting on this board. After a period of approx. 1 year, investigating by the process of elimination, I have come to an unprofessional conclusion that my pastular acne is caused due to STRESS and sugar intake (beyond a threshold).

What happens to People with acne??
Posted on 03-07-2004 | 7 Comments

My acne started on January 23, 1991 when I was 15 year old and still exists. Of course, this is a most important period in a person's life when he/she begins to develop social skills etc... Like others in my situation, Acne succeeded in destroying my social life. This lack of social life is affecting my working life. So I want to know what happens to the lives of people with Acne.

I have had oily skin ever since sophmore year and now im 20 years old. Thats four years that ive been trying all kinds of different products on my face and none have ever worked great. i have a possible infection on my finger, skin turning green
Posted on 03-05-2004 | 4 Comments

i think my finger is infected or something, it is probably a result of me biting my nails. in an area where the nail meets skin it has become very painful and feels like an internal wound or infection. im tempted to take a pin or cut it right open and band-aid it. its terrible pain and the skin is turning green. probably 6-8 years ago this happened and it my pinky became terribly infected and the nail halfway deteriorated. was a very bad situation but the infection eventually went away, along...

why can't a solution be found
Posted on 03-05-2004 | 15 Comments

Frankly I can't figure out why a difinitive concrete solution to the acne problem cannot be found instead of all this speculative nonsense. We've put men in space, cloned things, you can choose the sex of your baby, crossbred monkys and jellyfish, and God knows what else. Why can't a solution to acne be obtained? I think that it's such a money making industry that it wouldn't not be in their best interest to get a "cure" therefore they doddle with prevention measures.. And no I don't concider...

Major over production of oil
Posted on 03-04-2004 | 5 Comments

I've got severely clogged pores on my nose and under my eyes. We're talking major here. I've never seen anything this bad on anyone. I'm 25/m and it's gotten progressively worse over the last few years. In fact, I'm pretty hideous looking now. I've got all these large dark clogged pores, and I'm sure people think they are blackhead's and that I don't wash my face at all. I've tried washing multiple times per day for many days in a row and it doesn't help. They just get clogged no matter what....
