Hey there... for basically my whole life, if it's ever been very hot or I've been working out pretty hard, my face would become very red and very heated. I was wondering if there were any treatments for this? I heard maybe IPL laser treatment? Are there any others that are better? Thanks
- Sunscreen without breakouts!!??
- Posted on 07-01-2004 | 11 Comments
My dermatologist tells me I have to use sunscreen while I'm on Retin-A Micro. Well guess what, all the sunscreens on the market have moisterizers in them, and they ALWAYS make me break out. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Retin-A Micro, ya know? Is there a good sunscreen that doesnt have moisterizers and doesnt tend to cause breakouts? I'm not a fan of sunBLOCK due to the way it sits on my face and feels uncomfortable.
- Demoralized: Coming up on Week 10

Hey everybody...I posted in here about 4 weeks ago after I had finished 6 weeks of Accutane with zero results other than no more oily skin. I'm almost through 10 weeks. So the treatment is approximately half over. The Accutane has not made one bit of difference.

Does anyone have any comments about having done Microdermabrasion for their acne or acne scarring. I have been told it will considerably minimize my scars. Due to the expense, I wanted to ask anyone here if they have tried it, before I embark on the procedure.
- Your Opinions on An Adult Using Accutane?
- Posted on 06-26-2004 | 6 Comments
Hi, Just curious as to opinions. I have had acne since my early 20's and am now almost 35. Over that period, due to moving or just getting fed up with no results... I have been to four doctor who each have had their own special way or dealing with my problem. My acne is nowhere near as bad as it was in my 20's but it's still there and I am fed up. This spring, my chin decided to break out every other week. I have been on most oral antibiotics you can think or and

Does anyone know if accutane can cause VERY bad headaches? I've had a headache now for three days... Everytime I move my head i get a sharp pain to the back of my brain basically. I also had a very very stiff neck yesterday (don't know if the two things are related though).

The last time I was in here, *Doctor William Gray* was prescribing B5 treatments and claiming to be an expert on acne. Hopefully this fad has run it's coarse and fatso has left the building. - questions: relationships and acne

I want to know of any guys that got dumped cause of acne cysts. In particular, I must say that I have had experiences where some women did not care too much about such, even though they did not have any, but it is my impression that some did. Now I have not had anyone go "OH, GROSS!!!", as much as I would have LOVED to. However, I did notice some emotional changes. So, tell me your story, do you think for a relationship based on physical matters, such things can be gross enough to end it...
- How do I lower Testosterone levels naturally?
- Posted on 06-12-2004 | 11 Comments
Hi, I'm male, 31, and have high Testosterone levels. The reference range should 8.4-28.7 nmol/L by I am generally testing around 33.9. I believe this is the cause of symptoms that others my age do not seem to have, such as irritability, very high libido, acne and male pattern hair loss. I am currently taking Dutasteride (brand name Avodart) for the hair loss and it seems to have stopped in its tracks, but I was advised Dutasteride may also lower Testosterone along with DHT, however after a...
- Help!! Need to convince derm!!
- Posted on 06-12-2004 | 7 Comments
Hi, I have an upcoming Derm appointment. Although, I do not suffer from severe cystic and nodulistic acne, I suffer from chronic pustular acne. I need some pointers to convince the derm to prescribe me at least a low-dosage of accutane.
- Cysts and Accutane

Another question for the group: I've read that Accutane gives a lot of people a flare up after the first or second week (although I'm in the midst of one now after SIX weeks which I pray is merely the Accutane purging my face). Well, does the Accutane-induced flare up also cause CYSTS in addition to standard pustules? Because over the last 7 days I've had more cysts on my face (5) than
- Stuff the derm told me, total b.s.?, & anyone tried Finacea? (longish)
- Posted on 06-06-2004 | 7 Comments
At my last derm visit 2 days ago, the MD (who is new and I hadn't seen before) prescribed Finacea. I had never heard of it, so I just assumed it was some new acne drug. Well, I just found out that it is usually prescribed for Rosacea. The MD didn't mention anything about Rosacea to me, so I'm wondering how well this stuff can work for acne. He also told me that I should stop using Purpose Oil Free SPF 15 and my Revlon oil free foundation b/c they are clogging my pores and

OK, today I'm back in the office after the three day weekend, but instead of feeling refreshed and well-rested I'm more down in the dumps than I've been in a long while about my face. Bear with me guys, hopefully this will be therapeutic for me. I had moderate acne in high school that was easily controlled with tetracycline, doxycycline, and topicals. By the time I started college in fall 2000, I was ALL CLEAR. Then, last September, at the start of my SENIOR year at college, the acne came...

Well, they have the money-back guarantee, so it could be worth trying. For me, it didn't help that much. But for a friend of mine, it helped him get rid of his acne. So you may want to try it for 60 days and see what happens. If it does nothing for you, just return it and get your money back. - Questions re KAVI 30% glycolic acid peel
- Posted on 05-28-2004 | 11 Comments
Hi All--Been lurking for many months...thanks for the informative posts. I am considering purchasing the Kavi 30% glycolic acid peel to do at home. I regularly use a very mild glycolic acid toner (proactiv) along with a salicylic acid face wash (L'Oreal Pure Zone--great stuff), both of which I'd suspend in the few days before I do the peel. My questions: Do you recommend that a person do a 30% peel at home? Has anyone done such a peel? What were the effects of the peel in the days after...

I've been successful at lowering my acne, but I'd like to add another attack. I don't want to megadose on B5 (can't afford it anyway), but would taking 500 or 1000mg along with a multi have any effect?

I have posted a question in here a while back regarding the side effects of low dose Accutane regimen. I didnt really get my questions answered so I have been doing some research on the net about it and still have not found what I am looking for. I came off of 80mg a day for 4 months about 6 months ago and it worked pretty well and I have not really been breaking out since I stopped, however I am now getting clogged pores and my skin is very very oily especially when I use moisturizer. I have...
