Does anyone find acne in others or themselves an attractive thing or a 'turn on'? Anyone ever tried to increase their acne for any reason? I know the idea will seem absurd to most people in this group, but not to everyone. Email me please. Robert

- Eating, Acne, and Dermatologists

What the heck is it with dermatologists? Are they on some sort of multi billion dollar conspiracy telling acne suffers that food plays no role in acne! How dare they try to lie to our faces! It's as obvious as the air we breath that food has a lot to do with the problem of acne! They just want so desperately to keep up their clientele. Those bastards!
- Baking soda is NOT gentle!!!!!!
- Posted on 07-16-2004 | 8 Comments
I've been using baking soda as a cleanser in the a.m and p.m. for about a week now. It is NOT that gentle at all. It stings my face. I am not using very much, only a little more than a pinch, with water, and I am NOT scrubbing. Just ever so slightly rubbing in soft circular motions, barely applying any pressure with my hands. Sorry, I may have to NEGATIVE to the baking soda as a cleanser, even though someone on this list was insisting it was great (and gentle).
- don't eat fat
- Posted on 07-16-2004 | 14 Comments
For God's sake, I know people say it's not true. However, it seems like anything like fat, butter, etc... makes it right through the blood stream and pops out as acne. Yuck. Stay away from butter. Ever notice how butter and acne contents have the same texture?

- Accutane: a few questions
- Posted on 07-11-2004 | 6 Comments
Hi guys. Great informative posts here. I plan on telling my Derm I want to start accutane on my next visit. After years of dismissing it as too "extreme" I've decided it's time. In my mind it's pretty much a concrete thing that I'm going this. However, I do have a couple of questions. 1) I don't have health insurance. Exactly how expensive is this stuff (on average) for the full 5 month course?
- Do NOT use Benzoyl Peroxide on skin!!!
- Posted on 07-11-2004 | 11 Comments
In fact the subject should read "Do not use anything on your face except for some very basic ingredients". The list of ingredients which you should definitely not be using include the following: Benzoyl Peroxide Salycylic Acid Glycolic Acid These are a nightmare for the skin to deal with because they are so so harsh. There are lots of other ingredients I could list, but I'll try to
- Yikes! Cost of Accutane! Comments?
- Posted on 07-11-2004 | 9 Comments
Hi, I am a 35 year old male who, last week, my doctor put me on 60 mg of Accutane a day for the next 5 months. My acne is mild 95% of the time, but nothing seems to be able to stop it dead.. so we're trying this. I am, however, stunned at the cost and need some input. Since my doctor claims the 30mg capsules are on "backorder" he has me on 3 20mg a day. When I went to my local pharmacy they said they were out of brand name Accutane, but had a generic in-stock. I said fine since my

Hey there... for basically my whole life, if it's ever been very hot or I've been working out pretty hard, my face would become very red and very heated. I was wondering if there were any treatments for this? I heard maybe IPL laser treatment? Are there any others that are better? Thanks
- Sunscreen without breakouts!!??
- Posted on 07-01-2004 | 11 Comments
My dermatologist tells me I have to use sunscreen while I'm on Retin-A Micro. Well guess what, all the sunscreens on the market have moisterizers in them, and they ALWAYS make me break out. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Retin-A Micro, ya know? Is there a good sunscreen that doesnt have moisterizers and doesnt tend to cause breakouts? I'm not a fan of sunBLOCK due to the way it sits on my face and feels uncomfortable.
- Demoralized: Coming up on Week 10

Hey everybody...I posted in here about 4 weeks ago after I had finished 6 weeks of Accutane with zero results other than no more oily skin. I'm almost through 10 weeks. So the treatment is approximately half over. The Accutane has not made one bit of difference.

Does anyone have any comments about having done Microdermabrasion for their acne or acne scarring. I have been told it will considerably minimize my scars. Due to the expense, I wanted to ask anyone here if they have tried it, before I embark on the procedure.
- Your Opinions on An Adult Using Accutane?
- Posted on 06-26-2004 | 6 Comments
Hi, Just curious as to opinions. I have had acne since my early 20's and am now almost 35. Over that period, due to moving or just getting fed up with no results... I have been to four doctor who each have had their own special way or dealing with my problem. My acne is nowhere near as bad as it was in my 20's but it's still there and I am fed up. This spring, my chin decided to break out every other week. I have been on most oral antibiotics you can think or and

The last time I was in here, *Doctor William Gray* was prescribing B5 treatments and claiming to be an expert on acne. Hopefully this fad has run it's coarse and fatso has left the building.
