- Rotary vs. Foil Razors
- Posted on 12-03-2003 | 12 Comments
I have noticed that most people with acne skin prefer the electric razor to the non-electric. I have been using a Mach 3 and I think it is contributing to my acne, every time I shave I break alot of pimples open and I know that breaking them will just spread it more. I have never used an electric before and was wondering what is less abrasive, the foil or rotary electric shavers. I would imagine that the foil would be better, but I have no idea. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a...
- This helps hormone breakouts
- Posted on 12-03-2003 | 8 Comments
I've been taking chasteberry (herb) (1 capsule a day) this month, and I did not get the pms breakouts on my jawline that I always get. Huge improvement, I can't remember the last time I didn't get a cycle breakout (or five). My jawline and cycle are the remaining problem areas I've had... I take one capsule a day (chasteberry is also known as Vitex). http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/vitex.html
- Hype About "Creme DeLa Mer"
- Posted on 12-03-2003 | 8 Comments
Heard about this product invented by the NASA physicist Max Huber? Anyway, I thought I would I put it to a test and so I did a search on Ebay. Got some a trial size La Mer Face Serum & La Mer Eye Balm (I thought the original Creme De La Mer would be too greasy for my needs, from the reviews I've read). I spent about $90 total for two 5 ml serum and one 0.5 oz of the eye balm. The first time I used it, I applied it 30 minutes after using my botanical microdermabrasion cream (also an Ebay...
- Accutane break out period.....
- Posted on 12-02-2003 | 8 Comments
How long does the break out period for Accutane last? 1 week or 2 weeks?? Isn't Accutane supposed to make acne better? So why does it have to get worse first? Doesn't make any sense........Sounds kinda fucked up. And but specifically what's the average that the break out for Accutane will last, and what can you do to stop the break out period once it's already started...... Thanks
- 2 Years And Still On B5 - Has There Been ANY Real Research Into This Treatment?
- Posted on 12-02-2003 | 9 Comments
This is just outrageous. As far as I'm concerned - we are basically at a point where we here at this newsgroup ALONE have proven the effectiveness of this treatment. It has certainly been shown to not be 100% effective for all - but there are cases that are all but proof positive. In my own case - It's like clock work. Take B5 = Clear Skin
- acne and birth control
- Posted on 11-30-2003 | 18 Comments
Hi. I was just wondering if anyone here has used birth control pills to stop acne. I've been on Retin A Micro for 3 months and it hasn't made my face worse, but it hasn't exactly helped. Everytime my face starts to clear up, around my period it breaks out. =( So my friend told me that it's probably more hormonal and I should try going on the pill. I just wanted to see if anyone else has gone on it to treat acne. Thanks.
- Serious Skin Care?
- Posted on 11-30-2003 | 6 Comments
Anyone have any experience with Serious Skin Care? They sell it on HSN and it looks good, but they sell it in kits and I'm not sure what kit to try. It's between the Acne line and Glycolic line. Acne products usually don't work for my increasingly broken out skin, but maybe this one is different..I don't have bad acne, but obviously I'd like to control it.. thanks!

I'm thinking very seriously about giving accutane a try. What would be an average dosage/coarse length for moderate body acne? Thank you all Buddee.

- Really depressed - differin not working
- Posted on 11-25-2003 | 10 Comments
Hi everyone, I've just finished 7 weeks of differin today, and not only have the signs of the initial breakout not gone away yet, but I am breaking out again as per usual - little acne lump rash on my chest and shoulders, and marks all over my back. I am in tears because I thought this stuff might actually work - im 21 now and have had chronic mild to moderate acne for 9 years, and I've tried so many products, have spent so much money, and you'd think they could cure these tiny little lumps...

- Vitamin B5: After Effects....Hair Loss Sever....Thoughts?
- Posted on 11-13-2003 | 22 Comments
Dear Group! I started using Vitamin B5 in February 2001, back then my face was full of acne, not one place without a red pimple. This has changed though, and I noticed that my face got better and better. I was on 8Grams a day dosage for about 6 months but most of the time I took 2grams a day. In early 2002, I noticed that my hair was slowly thining and eventually began to fall out shortly after. This is really alarmed me as I was on 16 at the time. By mid-2002, I stopped taking Vitamin B5. I...
- Somebody help! Week 8 on Differin!
- Posted on 11-11-2003 | 10 Comments
Ok, I'm now officially completed with week 8 of Differin. It had been 8 weeks of WORSE acne than before I started Differin. I'm told that this could be due to "purging" which should be followed by clearing. Thats all fine and good! If the clearing starts now then the 8 weeks of hell will have been worth it. But of course, it could be that the Differin is not "purging", but rather causing the breakouts simply by being there, which would mean that it wont get better and clear, it will just keep...
- Worried about Coming off Accutane
- Posted on 11-08-2003 | 8 Comments
Hi - I have been taking Roaccutane (or Accutane as it's called in the US) for the last 8 months! It has been amazing and completely cleared my face and most of my back. However I am about to finish my course of treatment (2 days left!) and I am worried all my spots will come back! It is truely my worst nightmare ever.
- Has anyone with non-cystic, or non-nodular acne tried Accutane?
- Posted on 11-06-2003 | 10 Comments
My daughter wants to use this heavy medication, but she really doesn't have cystic acne--just stubborn closed comidome type with lots of tiny bumps and the dreaded redness/oiliness. From my perspective, it doesn't seem bad, but I know it's not fun at all for her. I see nothing in the prescribing info on using Accutane for anything except cystic acne. Noel
- Shaving Chests

Hey, I want to shave my chest, but every time I do, red bumps (I'm guessing acne or rash) pop up everywhere. How can I prevent this from happening when I shave? Should I just continue shaving and it will go away? If so, how long does it usually take for your skin to get use to the shave and not get irritated? Thanks, D
- Scared of B5

I know everyone here say it work. And I am sick of acne, very frustrate and embarrassing to my life. But I am afraid to harm self by using elephant dose of B5. I know this is supposedly nontoxic even in large dose, but is this proven? I dont want to find out years later that this cause major damage to body like DES or other drug thought to be safe before.
