What is the general consensus about doxycycline
Posted on 01-29-2004 | 5 Comments

Hi all, I used doxycycline over the Christmas period to help control breakouts. It works beautifully, but I had some strange side effects. My throat had a "cold" sensation not long after taking a dose. I also suffered horrendous thrush (which made me stop taking it). It did have a remarkable effect on my skin though. How have others responded to this drug? Punkycat

Update: Using Glycolic Acid/Copper Peptide
Posted on 01-29-2004 | 1 Comments

I just thought I'd give a little update since my last posts a couple of weeks ago. First of all, some background, I have many depressed scars that resulted from severe cystic acne when I was a teenager (I am 35 now). Some of them are individual pockmarks, and in some areas they are layered (one scar on top of another). They are mostly on my temples, forehead, and chin. I also have some sun damage and wrinkles. I have been using 40% glycolic acid along with copper peptide cream. I have done...

Amoxicillin
Posted on 01-28-2004 | 4 Comments

Hi Everyone. Last week I went to a new Dermatologist and she put me on Amoxicillin. I've been on Tetracycline and Minocycline before and I told her they didn't do anything for me. So she said to try this. Has anyone used Amoxicillin before to treat breakouts? If two other antibiotics didn't work for me I don't see how this will. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with this. She also have me Tazorac cream to put on my face at night. Another thing I have never heard of. If...

Wow. Just, wow. (B5)
Posted on 01-28-2004 | 6 Comments

I started taking B5 2 weeks ago (only 3g). My face is completely clear now. I even ran out of clindamycin this weekend...but nothing bad happened! Usually, my face would have been out of control without all my meds. I hope this lasts, and that they don't find out about any side effects :)

Blackheads in ear
Posted on 01-25-2004 | 6 Comments

For a while now I've had blackheads in the inside of my ear. Right next to the opening, pretty visible. They have been there for months, and they aren't going away on their own. Any idea on how to get rid of them manually? I tried some creams and stuff for acne, but none of those have worked. Thanks, Ben

Accutane Dosage and Timing of the day when taken
Posted on 01-24-2004 | 9 Comments

A couple questions: I weigh about 130 lbs which translates into .5 mg per kilo=30 mg and 1 mg per kilo=60 mg. My derm started me off on 40 mg once per day for a month. This month I am taking 50 mg once per day for a month. He said that it would be better to take the pills at 12 hour intervals

vitamins to cure a red face
Posted on 01-23-2004 | 2 Comments

my face is not bright red but instead a dull red color. I have large pores on my cheaks and forehead that produce oil all day and contain blackheads. I used to have a bright red face due to over washing and ignorance. Now im using a combination of Cetaphil soaps that are very gentle. The redness is now dull but i want to start taking vitamins. Which ones are used for healthy skin?

Acne scarring treatments
Posted on 01-21-2004 | 1 Comments

I have just had five smoothbeam procedures. I am now trying another laser called Syneron Aurora. On a fluke, I won a 200 dollar gift certificate to another laser center, so I thought I'd give it a try. The doctor that prescribed the smoothbeam mentioned microderm as an option after the laser. This other laser center interlaces the microderm with their laser and also reccomends five treatments. While I can't afford another round of laser traetments, I went ahead and used my 200 dollar discount...

Just told I have acne rosaceae
Posted on 01-14-2004 | 8 Comments

HI all, New her. After 15 years of treating my intensely dry skin as a bad t- zone, the doctor told me this morning that I have acne rosaceae, which I'd never heard of. I had very bad acne as a teenager and fought long and hard to get rid of it, so this is kind of depressing. Anyway, have been trawling the Web since for more info (don't want to

Anyone try using nothing?

Anyone try using no topicals? How did it work for you? I'm hearing a lot of people improving their acne with no topicals.

smoking and the skin
Posted on 01-14-2004 | 29 Comments

I have a problem with a flush face. I guess it is rosacea. At least, that's what a few doctors have told me. I have noticed when I smoking my face is flush in photos. But when I give up smoking my face look pretty much normal. Does smoking have an effect on rosacea? My guess is yes. Time for me to quit.

Adult Acne and some newbie questions
Posted on 01-09-2004 | 16 Comments

Hi everyone - I have been reading silently and tried to post a few weeks ago but my post never showed... I had perfect skin right up to age 23 (actually used to be a model from age 18 to 22)...never more than a tiny zit once a month or so and then - WHAM! I had my third child, got my tubes tied, and my face and neck just gradually went bananas...by 26 or so I was wearing foundation makeup again after years of not having to...just to hide the ugly little buggers.. The chinline and neck was a...

Resistance to P.Acnes
Posted on 01-08-2004 | 7 Comments

Why haven't my white blood cells developed resistance to P.Acnes after a decade of fighting them on the barren, pockmarked battlefield that is my face? Why does the dead lifeless bodies of our heroic white cells still erupt in mass graves of pus-filled heaps? Why haven't my body won the war against the evil bug Propionibacterium acnes? Why?

I finally got B5
Posted on 01-08-2004 | 8 Comments

OK, I went down to GNC today and got some B5. I have read some mixed opinions on that brand, but I decided to give it a try. I have been using Zinc + B6 solution to block DHT, and it really works. Should I stop using it altogether since the B6 will interfere with the B5? I hope this stuff works. I'm starting at 2 grams....
