Need advice, new to group!
Posted by Neil

Hello group, First time posting, but i follow the group, and i learn
alot, and think there are some really caring people here.
Here is my situation, i hope you guys can give me some good insight.
I am 33, in the last 2 years i have lost alot of weight, i did it by
eating healthy and excercising on a regular basis.
In the past 2 years i have also had severe GI trouble, took many
invasive tests, and still trying to figure what's really wrong, DR's are
baffled.
In the past 8 months i started breaking out very bad, My skin got soooo
oily then i would get huge pimples, that looked like cysts.
I went to a derm DR and he started me out like this
Wash face 2 x daily with nuetragena oil free acne wash.
AM Clinda max lotion
During day Clinac bpo if oily
PM Differin.
I did not like the idea of taking any clindamycin cause of my GI
trouble.
I gave it 1 month and it did not work, the main thing was the oil, after
i would wash and put on the Clinac bpo, within 1hour my face was like
someone poured olive oil on it.
I got very frustrated and what i did was just washed 2x a day and used
the Clinac bpo.
It seemed to help the acne somewhat, but not really the oil, and if i
ever missed a day, it would come back big time.
I saw another Derm DR and she put me on TRIAZ pads, she said to use the
Clinac bpo in the am and as the day goes on when i get oily to use the
TRIAZ pads.
Does anyone know about Triaz pads?
I never seen it discussed in the group.
Please, any help, advice, or comments would be appreciated.
Just a little about me.
as a teenager a suffere from mild acne, not bad at all, When i turned 17
i started suffering from severe depression, and have been battling ever
since.I never really had oily skin before, i do suffer from alot of
stress.
Any questins feel free to ask.

Thanks alot
Neil

Neil,

You say you've lost a lot of weight and are having GI trouble.

There's a couple of things to consider. Your acne and GI trouble may be
connected. Have you thought about looking into Candida? What kind of diet
are you on? What foods do you eat? Supplements? Have yhou been tested for
Celiac disease? What have they tested you for? What about thyroid?
Thyroid trouble can cause skin problems and GI problems. How much weight
have you lost?

Give us a few more details and we'll see what we can come up with.

Hi Arlyn, I weighed 178 when i was 16/17..after my depression started,i
gainen weight rapidly, in a 13 year period i got up to 340, i am down to
230 now. I lost the weight in a health way, I have ocd, so in away i try
and do things perfectly.I ate plenty of quality protein, mainly fish,
turkey, and whey, i ate moderate carbs, mainly complex carbs, and my
fats constited of mainly olive oil, flaxseed oil, which i switched to
super gla dha( from life extention) I take b complex and i took a multi,
but i have trouble digesting, so recently stopped taking the multi. I
get all my supplements from life extention. I try and eat 5 small meals
a day.I drink alot of water. Meds i'm on are celexa and klonopin. As to
the tests i took, they tested me fr all the things you have mentioned. I
also beleive the acne/oil is related to the GI problems also, but so far
the DR'S are baffled. I had to colonoscopy's and 2 endoscopy's within
the last year, they thought i had th onset of Crohn's but later biopsy's
ruled that out.
Now because they can't find out what is really going on, theyjust say
IBD, and i take blood tests regulary, and take fibercon.

I really appreciate you taking the time to take interest

Hi Neil,

I've never heard of the medications you're on so I can't comment there.

Congratulations on the weight loss, though!

I have no idea what Life Extention is, can you clarify please?

I get acne whenever I take vitamins. B12 is the absolute worst. I recently
had two B12 shots and now my face looks horrible. But, I need the B12.

What carbs do you eat? Where are the fresh veggies and fresh fruit in your
diet?

I had IBD but no longer have it since I switched my diet to a vegetarian,
mostly raw food diet.

What is the whey you are eating made from?

If you are eating enough fruits and veggies then there should be no need for
the fibercon.

Thank you for answering all those questions. Perhaps someone else here will
have some more ideas.

Let's move on to what you put on your face. What
soaps/cleansers/moisterizers/etc are you using on your face?

Oh, I meant to say earlier that you have lost so much weight that your body
is detoxing the tissues and the acne could just be part of that detox. Oil
is another thing, though. Some say they did much better when taking flax
seed oil. Oh, flax seed oil can bring on thyroid problems in some people so
always keep a check on that.

Take care,
ar

Thanks) Life extentionis a very reputable company that sells
pharmacutical grade suplements among other health products.

Most of the carbs i eat are fromgreen leafy veggies, some fruit, and
some whole grains, like barley. I drink almond or soy milk instead of
regular milk by the way.

One of my Gi troubles isdigesting certian foods..I can't ear things like
broccoli or hard veggies. I have tried raw nuts and at times have a hard
time with that too. Alot of different fruits are way to acidic for me.

I wash my face with nuetrogena oil free acne wash 2 x a day, then clinac
bpo, then the triaz pads during the day. Still very oily skin.

Hi Neil,

So far, I'm not stumbling on any cures for you.

I can't eat too many whole fruits but can handle most all of them in the
form of smoothies. Nuts are notoriously difficult to digest and they also
cause me to break out. So, I have to stay away from them. Along with
almond milk. I'll have it occasionally if I'm making a banana shake for
dessert. Soy I never touch. It's bad for the thyroid and I used to be
severely allergic to it as well.

I hope you find some answers soon.

megadoses of vitamins over a six month period of time did more to alieviate
the depression and bring about recovery than seven years of intensive
doctoring and hospitalization. (Thank goodness for Adelle Davis', "Let's
Get Well"!) I also have no luck digesting a multi, and have problems with
nausea with B complex. I have found a coenzyme B complex, (Country Life),
that I can take. As for the IBS, cutting out starches really helped, (as in
Atkins low carb), but the best thing by far was taking B6! At first I would
take it with each meal, (200mg) and any time I felt bloated and miserable,
then, as symptoms became less frequent, I reduced the amount. Now, I take
as needed, which isn't often. However, I take magnesium, around 500mg before
bed with 200mg B6, because this put an end to nighttime panic problems I was
having.
I haven't had problems with oily skin or acne per se, but have had bouts of
dermatitis, (the extremely itchy kind), that responded to the large vitamin
dosages...a nice side effect.
I've come to the conclusion that, while each person's system is different,
we all run on the same basic building blocks...vitamins and minerals. When
our system is stressed, plenty of nutrients are necessary to allow healing,
which is just getting back to ground level. After that, we must have enough
to actually build and maintain good health. For some of us, depending on
the level of stress and illness, this can be quite a bit, especially when to
compared to the miniscule RDAs we're used to using as a guideline. It's up
to each person to experiment to find the amount needed to see results.
I no longer take tons of vitamins, but I'm glad I was desperateenough to try
this when I did. I also no longer take any meds whatsoever, and my
depression, while not entirely out of the picture, is managable, and only
rarely do I approach the horrible level that I survived for seven years
while under professional care. Even those days are few and far between, and
I know how to get through them.

I hope you soon find some relief!
