- Does Accutane really work?

Does Accutane really work for acne? Then how come I haven't seen results after
I finished my 2nd week. I'm talking about 2 LONG weeks. That's a very long
time and to not see an improvment? Just getting worse? That's why I
ask.....are you SURE accutane works for acne? If it really does then I don't
see why after finishing 2 LONG LONG weeks, which is a very long time, there is
no improvment...It just gets worse. Maybe accutane doesn't work?

Accutane has a cumultative effect. I wonder if you read the instructions
properly. Over the whole course it has an effect, normally the
dermatologists gets it between 100 and 150 mg/kg. So after two weeks you're
not even near the goal you and your doctor have set. My course had the
cumultative effect of 60 mg/kg about two years ago.
Greetz,
*why so impatient?*

for the love of god! 2 weeks isn't even time enough for a vitamin to work!
it does work for most people. didn't you get the brochure with the scary
pics in it?!
you are just gonna have to freak out and bitch until around late december to
mid january. I started it in August of 97 and ended about feb of 98 and when
it was all over, you couldn't even tell that i ever had a breakout in my
entire life...
i'm going to an online derm to get the straight dope on the initial breakout
period to try to ease your stress!
details soon....

Some don't see improvement until after they're done the course.
You'll just have to be patient. And odds are, things will get worse
before they get better.
BUT
It's better than having acne for 15 or 20 more years. (Or more!)

because I could understand if it wouldn't improve in the first 2 weeks......I
understand that.......but damnit it has to get worse? that's just stupid. I
can wait if it doesn't improve.....I"d be ok if it was just the same way right
before I started taking accutane. the getting worse is stupid. when will it
go away because as I have said, I already finished 2 LONG LONG weeks. Day 16
already. A very very long long 16 days. That's a long time to see absolutley
no improvement. I can understand if it doesn't improve just yet, but remains
the same way as it was before I started accutane, but give me a fuckin break it
has to get worse than before I started it???? Do you know what I'm saying?
I"d have no problem if it wasn't improving just yet and it will improve soon,
but let it remain the same as it was before I took accutane........not make it
worse.....that's just stupid that it has to get worse. I want to kill the
outbreak period right now. I'd have patient if it just remained the same as it
was before I started.....I'd have no problem waiting a few more
weeks........but this is starting to be bullshit.
Everyone says it will work......but now it's like.....gotta see it to believe
it.
.....

ok now this I just don't believe.

I think it is obvious that you didn't do a lot of research before you did
the accutane. Yes, for many you get worse before you get better. Yes, for
many they don't see improvement until months later when the course is
finished.

Look, it's clearing our your skin by letting oxygen in & also other stuff
that's explained on websites, do a seach on www.google.com.
So there'll be spots 'waiting' to be arisen below your skin.... Do you
remember ever being told it takes 2 months for a new diet or a new skin
product etc to take effect? That's why!
Calm down okay? Forget your vacation....you can have all the vacation and
tattoos you want in the future after your treatment's over (very
likely....accutane works for the majority of people)
So I mean tough shit if it's still there in say 2 weeks.... but in a few
months or maybe more if your acne's persisitent it'll be gone, chill the
beans eh meistro!

That's because you're the sort of person who can't believe stuff that he's
told from people that've went through it and done a lot (lot) of research.
It's a very powerful drug....that's all you need to know - and that it'll
get rid of your acne most likely (most cases everythign's okay.... imagine
you took E(cstacy) drug tablet, in the UK tonnes of teens do every weekend,
clubbers. 99% are okay, 1% get totally frigged up, end up their heads blow
up literally, quite scary actually) And so we have accutane, liver problems
and all sorts. BUT for the majority it's okay.... you getch-me?

I have been reading your posts for weeks now, and I'm going to
assume you are young and inexperienced with the internet. There is a
thing called a search engine where you can search for certain topics
i.e accutane go to www.google.com and type in "accutane journal" and
start reading. Most of the questions you have asked have been
answered 1000's of times over the last 20 years, you just have to do a
LITTLE research to find them. Start at www.rocheusa.com they are the
makers of accutane you can find detailed information there concerning
many of your questions. Have you ever tried just going to google
groups alt.skincare.acne and typing in (Accutane "inital breakout")
there are hundereds of posts. Like most teachers will tell you when
you tell them you don't understand the problem, "Did you try to find
the answer before you asked me" do some research and if you can't
find the answer then or need clarification then post a message saying
you don't understand. Also ask your dermatologist, they should be
your number one source of info. That's what you pay them for.
Accutane is a serious drug you should make sure you know what to
expect. As for the inital breakout it can last anywhere from a few
days to a few months, and it is true for some people their skin
doesn't get better until after they have finished a course of
accutane, but in general you can expect your skin to start clearing
after 2 months.
Hope this helps hang in there.
good luck

This is more believable.
No this I DO NOT believe at all. None what so ever.
- Posted by Dear MrPoliceman
ok i'll try.
No I will not forget my vacation. This isn't some vacation to Florida or
California for a good time. This is a vacation to see my girlfriend who I love
and for her bday which is an important event. 10,000 miles. So no, not going
to forget the vacation this summer.

Yes but ProActiv/Klear Action + giving up dairy worked better for me.
