- cheaper b5 in the UK ? ..
- Posted by Barrie Phillips
Hi room,
I've been taking b5 for about a month now, it seems to be working for me but
I need high doses 15gms seemed ideal but the stuff is just too expensive so
I reduced it to 10gms which seems to be a bare minimum for me to see
immediate changes .. anywa to cut a long story short .. I was wondering if
anyone from the uk can find a source of B5 thats cheaper than myu current
supplier :
http://www.rosemaryshealthfoods.co.uk
which is : 540 (500mg) calcium pantothenate for £18.80
thanx in advance for any leads ..

Yoiks! That's a great price - compared to what I'm paying from Holland and
Barrett. They charge £9.98 for 100 tablets (500 mg). So that's what? Almost
3 times more expensive than your souce?
Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be switching sources.

When I dabbled in B5, I recall that rosemary's was the cheapest.

Just wanted to mention that the H&B tablets are slow release, technically
its prob a better way of gettting your b5. By splitting B5 intake into 4
lots per day is prob pretty similar to the effects of slow release capsules
anyhow..
Best wishes .. Barrie
(doesnt look like itll get any cheaper

The earlier discussions on B5 concerned slow release. It seems that its the
'hit' that's required and slow release wasn't advocated for that reason.
Like you say, if you're stuffing 10-15 grams of it down your throat, then
time release isn't an issue.
That said, any info you get on mega dose B5 is unresearched, anecdotal
speculation.
The whole theory revolves around just one 'study' from the mid 90's which
was SO good it's never been repeated.
I have serious doubt about the whole B5 thing, especially Mega-dosing.
Mega-dosing can play a useful role, i.e. two weeks of VitC at 10g a day for
liver-flushing.........( even that is questionable..)

hmmm how can any medical study ( ok you say unrepeated ) be anecdotal
speculation ? anyway its not so much the experiment as the explaination of
the results of the experiment, not that I remember exactly but it was very
convincing (to me) it went something like .. there are fats floating around
your bloodstream that are metabolized by B5, a shortage leading to an excess
of these fats which have been directly linked with acne ? .... it went
something like that to me
personally, my skin HAS improved on high doses, maybe its a placebo effect
(do i care ? nope)
I've also seen B5 (lack of it) related to arthritis hayfever and asthma ...
now heres a funny thing : theres 7 in my familly: my father has arthritis,
my sister and I are the only ones that have acne ... 2 of my brothers have
hayfever (one also has asthma) and my other brother has bad joints (they
click a lot .. lol ) .... wonder if this sorta relationship is common ?
Anyway Im not on commission for pushing B5 so make your own mind up ..(i
think itll work for me, and Ive had persistent acne for a long long time)
best wishes

I've switched to Panthenite 1g instead, and have been on it 5 weeks so too
early to say, but I think there is reduction in oil currently.
