Can oil glands be "turned off" ??
Posted by angelsbridge@webtv.net

I have p.c.o.s. and it causes extreme oil production on face and scalp,
if there is a medical way to shut down the oil glands or remove them-
just on the face, please let me know. Thanks,

Yvonne

Or B5/Pantothenic Acid/Panthenite
Or Ketsugo

The above has less severe side-effects than Accutane.

In my experience, that only helps temporarily.

Unfortunately ketsugo hasn't worked for me either, and I can't be bothered
taking the sheer number of pills every day to try B5.

If you have PCOS you should be on medication to help with that condition and
those meds will usually help with the excess oil production.
Aldactone/Spirinolactone is one of them. I take this and it helped reduce
my oiliness a lot.

Did you have hair loss and if so any improvement on Spiro?

It's not a drug but I found that claeaning with a combination of
peppermint castille soap, aloe vera and goats milk helped. It kept my
skin moister and healthier. All those medications that dry out your
skin may cause a counter reaction where your body produces excess oils
to try and re-hydrate your skin..
iIt's no cure but i foumd my body produced less oils and overall my
skin looked better. I still get zits though. Someday there will be a
cure. Probably as a result of genetic engineering. On Wed, 20 Aug

Nope, as far as I know I never had any significant hair loss, so didn't
notice any difference while taking spiro.

I seem to shed an awful lot of hair, but it doesn't seem to be thinning at
all, it's very thick.

cheers
