Diet Coke to be Sweetened with Splenda
Posted by Tim Campbell

Responding to consumer taste input, Coca-Cola North America will
introduce Diet Coke Sweetened with Splenda in the United States in the
second quarter of 2005. The product will feature a blend of Splenda and
acesulfame potassium, and will be available in a variety of package
sizes. The Diet Coke Sweetened with Splenda launch follows last year's
roll out of Diet Coke with Lime, and enters the Diet Coke family, which
includes Caffeine Free Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Lemon, Diet Cherry
Coke and Diet Vanilla Coke.

Tim, what real "health nut" drinks soda pop in the first place?
Soda pop has a very acid Ph level of 2.
A real "health nut" would not touch soda pop with a ten-foot
pole.

But they wouldn't touch it because it's "empty calories." YOU
wouldn't touch it because of your irrational fear of "pH 2."

You must lead a very frightened existence, one that gets worse every
time you fall for another health scare. By now, you're probably
carrying around a portable pH meter to test all your food.

I can't see that it'll make much difference. Betty Martini will just

something that tastes better. Bring back cyclamate, for that matter.

George, do you put vinegar on your fries? How about salad dressing on
salads?

Actually, my "taste buds" do not like taste of soda pop. Too
syrup-ly and sugar-ly to suit my taste buds.

I only avoid these three food item groups: sugar; dairy
(including cow's milk) products; and soda pop. And also try to avoid
drinking tap water, if possible. Except for dairy (including cow's milk)
products, my taste buds are sensitive for the above items. But since my
body is sensitive to dairy (including cow's milk) products [strep
throats/lung congestion], I have good health reasons to avoid the dairy
group forever.

So that is less than six food items I will avoid. Not that bad.

This sugar discussion does not bother me at all. Since my taste
buds do not like the taste of sugar.

I eat fries plain or put brown gravy on them. I like "thousand

If needed, I do take apple cider vinegar tablets for nutrient
purposes..

I still eschew sodas... the acidity depletes the body's calcium stores...

Not if you get enough calcium to overcome that problem. It's not that

That's nice. It doesn't address the point I was making at all,
however.

The only reason to avoid drinking tap water is to avoid chlorine, and
you can easily get rid of that with a filter. Tap water is often
superior to bottled water (indeed, they are sometimes the same thing).

For a while I could get Jolt cola around here, but the

all due to "lack of demand."
